ZAM WoW PowerUp Forever review - giantbomb.com If you're going to go and call your game "PowerUp Forever," you should probably make sure that you can actually, like, power-up forever. Namco's downloadable dual-joystick shooter adheres to the letter of the law, but not the spirit. It doesn't take long to max out all of your available upgrades, and at some point you just start getting a refilled special weapons meter over and over again. That's technically a power-up. But this is not what I signed on for. I'm tempted to just stop there and proclaim the game a complete failure by screwing up its main concept. The way you grow every time you beat a guardian gives the game an evolution-themed feel to it. The upgrades in PowerUp Forever are automatic. The game keeps score and has a score multiplier system in place that rewards you for quickly moving from one guardian fight to the next. OK, I'll stop harping on the name. Jeff Gerstmann on Google+

review: PowerUp Forever Blitz Arcade’s PowerUp Forever is an arcade shooter that requires decent reflexes and a healthy desire to decimate foes. The most important feature of the game (as Blitz would have you believe) is collecting power-ups after defeating a special foe. From the title alone, I gathered that the amount of special upgrades or abilities was unlimited. I couldn’t be more wrong. For many days now I have been walking the halls of my home, inebriated. Your ship grows in size each time you receive a power-up, even if that weapon is maxed out. Hit the break for the full review. PowerUp Forever (Xbox Live Arcade)Developed by Blitz ArcadePublished by Namco-BandaiReleased on December 11, 2008 PowerUp Forever is a mosaic title, characterized the most by its Geometry Wars gameplay concepts wrapped around a visual style reminiscent of fl0w. The game puts you in the driver seat of a gun-laden spaceship in search of enemies called Guardians. There are only two enemies in the game that threaten to be engaging.

PowerUp Forever - Xbox Live Arcade, PowerUp Forever - Xbox Live It’s not even remotely difficult to imagine how the idea for PowerUp Forever came about. Somebody played the hypnotic, 2D game flOw (try the demo here and buy it on PSN) and said, “Hey! Wouldn’t this be fun if your onscreen avatar had a gun?” Both games have wide-open environments, an abstract “under the microscope” art sensibility, and an organic ambient feel, though PowerUp Forever has kickier music and pacing. Even flOw’s constantly growing player character reappears: As you defeat bosses, your ship absorbs new powers and evolves in size, drawing the attention of ever-larger enemies. Despite these similarities, PowerUp Forever feels very different from flOw – that’s what adding a laser that blasts away in whatever direction the right stick is pointing will do for you. What doesn’t always work is the game’s pacing; PowerUp Forever just can’t seem to decide whether it wants to be a trance-y, relaxing chill-out game or a throbbing, balls-to-the-wall nerves-shredder.
