Craft & Home Decor Ideas — Creative Blogs for DIY Crafts and Home Decor
I’m loving this new series and I’ve heard from so many of you via comments, emails, FB……that you also love it! Last week my conversation was with the talented Brittany from Pretty Handy Girl. This week, I am interviewing the amazing Victoria from Victoria Elizabeth Barnes. The minute…..no…… the second I started reading her blog, I fell in love with her. I don’t even know how I bumped into her, but her wit, charm and tenacity pulled me in. She and her husband are in the trenches of gutting, remodeling, and making over their 1890 home, giving us snippets of their hell and their joy along the way.

Though, I'm not sure how cost effective it is if you keep buying more and more cloth napkins each year! I've done it before and could do it again- once you know how easy it is to have short hair or very little hair, it is SO tempting to go back. That is why having lots of hair accessories on hand is a MUST! I have a variety of ways that I like to pull my hair back and lately I've been having fun making my own braided headbands. They are really easy to make and super cute to wear on a bad hair day :)

Especially when that nasty gremlins try to creep in and stump me. I remembered this origami star video on You Tube and had to get them involved in my plan. I thought it would be fun to make a whole bunch with kind words and “you are….” phrases inside. I made 60 of them, enough to last me the whole year if I open one a week, plus a few extra just in case. I used 12 x 12 inch scrapbook paper and cut 1/2 x 12″ strips, then followed the video HERE*.

D*S diy projects for ladies’ home journal A few months ago, we were asked to contribute some holiday gift DIY projects to the December/January issue of Ladies’ Home Journal. The magazine has just hit stands, and our projects are now available to view on their website! Some of these are variations on past projects, while others — like the vintage book tablet case and the coiled rope bowls — are brand spankin’ new. If you have any free time over the holiday weekend, you should definitely consider these projects for getting a jump start on your holiday gift-making. Good luck and please feel free to ask any questions in the comments section if anything is unclear. First of all, assemble your stuff - tissue paper (2 colours if desired), tulle, string and scissors. Cut two rectangles of each colour and two rectangles of tulle. The flower I have made used 38cm x 25.5cm sheets but it doesn't really matter, just so long as the pieces are all rectangular and of the same size.
