World’s Smallest and Cutest Animals When it comes to the animal kingdom, not every animal is necessarily a pretty face. Yet there are some animals that just by their sheer diminutiveness are just too cute for words. Following are some of those cuties that just might leave you speechless: Pygmy Marmoset Weighing just 4.2 ounces and only 5.5 to 6.3 inches in length, the pygmy marmoset is the smallest monkey in the world. Native to the rainforests of western Brazil, southeastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador and eastern Peru, nicknames for this monkey often refer to its diminutiveness: mono de bolsillo (“pocket monkey”) and leoncito (“little lion”) It is one of the smallest primates and the smallest true monkey. Pygmy Rabbit The Pygmy Rabbit is found in North America. Unfortunately it is also considered an endangered species. World’s Smallest Chihuahua With a head the size of a large strawberry, Ducky, a yappy short-coat Chihuahua from Charlton, Massachusetts, holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s smallest living dog.

Captured: The Ruins of Detroit | Plog — World news photography, Photos — The... Posted Feb 07, 2011 Share This Gallery inShare850 Up and down Detroit’s streets, buildings stand abandoned and in ruin. French photographers Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre set out to document the decline of an American city. Their book “The Ruins of Detroit“, a document of decaying buildings frozen in time, was published in December 2010. From the photographers’ website: Ruins are the visible symbols and landmarks of our societies and their changes, small pieces of history in suspension. The state of ruin is essentially a temporary situation that happens at some point, the volatile result of change of era and the fall of empires. Photography appeared to us as a modest way to keep a little bit of this ephemeral state. 10 Strangest Trees on Earth Matthew Fox once said – “If you look closely at a tree you’ll notice its knobs and dead branches, just like our bodies. What we learn is that beauty and imperfection go together wonderfully.” El Arbol de La Sabina Source Trees are important components of the natural landscape and a wonderful living organism which gives shelter, food, warmth and protection to all living things. Source Axel Erlandson’s passion for sculpting trees, also known as arborsculpture, led him to open a horticulture attraction in 1947 near Santa Cruz, California named The Circus Tree and people flocked in from all over the country to view his strange and striking creations which are nothing short of breathtaking! The Sky Blue Mushroom It looks like it could be something offered to Alice just before she makes a journey in to Wonderland but this sky blue mushroom is not a product of the imagination of Lewis Caroll. It can be found on both islands of New Zealand – and bizarrely enough in a few places in India. The sky blue mushroom does not have a common name other than, well, sky blue mushroom but if you have a moment for a real tongue twister its scientific name is Entoloma hochstetteri. It gets its very distinctive blue color from pigments within the body of the fruit known as azulene. Azulene is found in nature as a constituent not only of pigments in mushrooms but of some marine invertebrates. The mushroom appeared briefly along with five other native fungi on a set of stamps issued by the New Zealand government in 2002 and it can also be seen on the reverse of the country’s $50 note which was released in 1990.

Pictures of Clouds and Sunsets - What a Wonderful World Long’s Peak – Sunset Pictures of Clouds and Sunsets credit: David Evenson These pictures of clouds, nature and landscape are really inspirational. Clouds are created when rising air, through expansion, cools to the point where some of the water vapor molecules “clump together” faster than they are torn apart by their thermal energy. Some of that (invisible) water vapor condenses to form (visible) cloud droplets or ice crystals. In any case the beauty is impossible to ignore and our Grand Architect surely has an excellent eye for design. Hint: Use “J” and “K” keys to navigate from picture to picture.
