David Pytches: Come Holy Spirit - Learning how to minister in power Hodder 1995 (1985) AJM September 1999 1. Signs and wonders 1/5th of gospels dedicated to Christ’s healing ministry and teaching about it. Signs and wonders in NT 1 Cor 2.4 my message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power. Heb 2.4 salvation announced by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the HS distributed acc to his will. How did we lost sight of it? - materialist and rationalist western world view - idea of ministering in signs and wonders sounds presumptuous - own sense of powerlessness; we know we haven’t the resources. of HS - he didn’t need baptism for remission of sins, but even he needed baptism of HS and didn’t minister till he’d got it - we have no idea how to minister in power; no training or experience But in 3rd world, signs and wonders has always meant rapid church growth John Wimber. 2. ‘The kingdom of God is a reign of spiritual power which penetrates, permeates and integrates the material world’ p.8. 3.

chang chang lu The Reliability of the Bible | Bible.org - Worlds Largest Bible Study Site The Reliability of the Bible (Most of the material in this section is adapted from a chapter in I’m Glad You Asked by Kenneth Boa and Larry Moody (Wheaton, Illinois: Victor Books, 1982). Consult this book for answers to the twelve basic objections to Christianity.) A host of questions can surface when the issue of the accuracy of the Bible is raised: Isn’t the Bible full of contradictions and errors? The Bible has been copied and translated so many times--hasn’t this process led to errors? How can you be sure that the Bible is the same now as when it was written? Didn’t the church arbitrarily decide which books should be included in the Bible and which books should be rejected? So many people have different interpretations of the Bible--what makes you think that yours is correct? How can you place your faith in a book that condones genocide and slavery? Doesn’t the Bible make a number of claims that are scientifically inaccurate? The Reliability of the Biblical Documents The Bibliographic Test 1.
Songwriting Exercises - Handout Songwriting Exercises by Joel Mabus Scaffolding Stuck? Here’s an old trick to get you going. What a good song offers is structure, repetition, form and balance. Try this exercise: A) Take some song you like — any song at all from any era, any style — just so long as it is familiar to you. B) Write a new lyric to that song. C) Take that new lyric and write completely new music to it. D) Edit. (Or you could do A-C-B-D — write the new music to the “scaffold” song and then write a new lyric.) What remains is a new song with only a hint of the “ghost” song that acted as a scaffold for the process. Listmaking Out of ideas? A list could become a song (remember “My Favorite Things” or Tom T Hall’s “I Love...”) or could be a starting pad for an essay song, enumerating facts or feelings. Focused Imaging Similar to listmaking, but more purposeful, is putting your imagination to work in creating a scene, place or mood. Imagine a perfect day in your childhood – or the day your childhood sweetheart left you.
Nikolaus von Zinzendorf | Christian History Christian History Home > 131 Christians > Denominational Founders > Nikolaus von Zinzendorf Nikolaus von Zinzendorf Christ-centered Moravian "brother" posted 8/08/2008 12:56PM 1 of 2 "There can be no Christianity without community." Nearly two centuries after Luther posted his 95 Theses, Protestantism had lost some of its soul. Lutheran minister P.J. The Catholic church cracked down on the dissidents, and many were forced to flee to Protestant areas of neighboring Germany. Rich young ruler Born into Austrian nobility and raised by his grandmother, Zinzendorf showed an early inclination toward theology and religious work. After less than a year at court, he bought the estate of Berthelsdorf from his grandmother, hoping to form a Christian community for oppressed religious minorities. By May 1725, 90 Moravians were gathered at Herrnhut. The count was still a devout Lutheran and tried to keep the refugees within the parish church. "There can be no Christianity without community," he said.
Articles - Prophecy - Signs - 50 Reasons by Dr. David R. Reagan [read in Lamplighter (pdf)] The Bible says we cannot know the time of the Lord's return (Matthew 25:13). "You yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night... This passage asserts that Jesus is coming like "a thief in the night." Furthermore, the Scriptures give us signs to watch for — signs that will signal that Jesus is ready to return. A Personal Experience Every time I think of "Signs of the Times," I am reminded of a great man of God named Elbert Peak. He had been assigned the topic, "The Signs of the Times." He paused for a moment, and then added, "But today there are so many signs I'm no longer looking for them. The First Sign One hundred years ago in 1907 there was not one single, tangible, measurable sign that indicated we were living in the season of the Lord's return. This Declaration was prompted by the fact that during World War I the Turks sided with the Germans. Since 1917 1) The Signs of Nature Summary
