So in today’s tutorial, I’ll walk you through the steps on how to create a variety of seamless textures and backgrounds all in Adobe Illustrator. A Look at How Visitors Read Web Content A successful website is all about getting new people to your site and keeping them there long enough to convince them to come back. The Red website ( has a strong use of small text and clear design. Eye scanning research shows that readers pay more attention to headlines than they do to pictures initially.

CAPPTIVATE.co | iOS UI Animations Learn to Create a Variety of Beveled Lettering In this tutorial I will showcase three different approaches, which result in three different beveled lettering styles. Starting with my least favorite, and least complex, working my way to a style of beveled lettering that accomplishes an extremely polished and professional look. Illustrator Effect on a Typeface First, I'll touch base on the Extrude & Bevel Effect in AI. Personally, I rarely ever use effects or filters, but this will give us a good variety to the lettering style options. Step 1a First, we'll lay down a color scheme and background color. Step 1b With this bevel style we'll briefly touch on the Bevel effect options in Illustrator, so just start with an existing typeface. Step 1c With the type selected go to Type > Create Outlines. Step 2a Select the "BEND" type and go to Effect > 3D > Extrude & Bevel. Step 2b In the option window, first select the Preview check box, so that you can see the effect that is being created. Step 2c Go to Object > Expand Appearance. Step 3 Step 4a Step 4b

Gradient rings in Illustrator Circular graph Here is a very simple example of what I talk about. The gradient in each part of the graph follows the direction of the circle. In other words the gradient isn't linear or radial, which are the only options to choose from in Illustrator. The graph below has 28 segments and is applied in a more illustrative kind of way. It's still not a complex graph, but without a rather smart and simple way to create these gradients it would take a lot of time. Circular gradient Draw a rectangle Start by selecting the Rectangle tool and draw a small rectangle. Duplicate the rectangle Duplicate the rectangle by selecting the Selection tool (black arrow), and start dragging to the right as shown in the image above. Add color Give the second rectangle the ending color of your gradient. Blend options To prepare our perfect gradient using the blend feature, we first check our blend options. Make Blend Create new Art Brush Select Art Brush from the brush type options Give the brush a name. Draw a circle

Create a Variety of 3D Lettering Effects for Poster Design In this tutorial I will showcase three different approaches for creating simple 3D lettering effects in the context of poster design. Onward and upward we go! Introduction I will start off by drawing the letter-forms for the three words "ONWARD," "AND" and "UPWARD." Drawing Lettering As always, good lettering starts with a sketch. Step 1a This sketch is very rough and is basically there to reference when actually creating the lines in Adobe Illustrator (AI). Step 1b Open a new document in AI and paste in the sketch. Step 2 Create outside guides loosely based on the sketch (Drag from the Rulers). Step 3a Next, we'll create diagonal guides. Step 3b In the prompt window enter an Angle of 33 and hit OK. Step 3c The guide is now diagonal. Step 4a Next, referencing the sketch and start drawing the letterforms using the Pen Tool. Step 4b Using the guides as starting points, be sure to keep the vertical lines on the letter-forms precise by holding shift while drawing. Step 4c Step 5a Step 5b Step 6a Step 6b
