How to build a Tesla Coil

How to build a Tesla Coil
Unlike some other high voltage experiments, a Tesla coil's streamers can be very harmful. If you are shocked by the streamers, you will not feel pain, but your circulatory and nervous system can sustain severe damage. DO NOT TOUCH IT WHILE ON UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Also, I don't take any responsibility for you hurting yourself. This isn't to say that you shouldn't get into high voltage though, its just that if you are planning for this to be your first HV project, its a little to involved. Instead, try out a nice microwave oven transformer, and be safe!

A Papier Mâché Electronic Enclosure « Eclectic Technical Experiences A few years ago my wife attended a Papier Mâché (paper pulp) art class. She taught the rest of us one technique called layering. In this technique you glue small pieces of paper inside or outside a mold in layers. You can glue a few layers at a time, let it dry, and add more layers. At the end you can leave it as is, paint it, and/or lacquer it.

Basic Electronics - Course Table You are at the best, free online "Basic Electronics Course". Simple Electric Generator All metals contain a movable substance called "electric charge". Even uncharged wires are full of charge! After all, the atoms of the metal are made half of positive protons and half of negative electrons. Metals are special because their electrons don't stay connected to the metal atoms, instead they fly around inside the metal and form a type of electric "liquid" inside the wires. All wires are full of electric fluid.

RGB LED controller Want to build an RGB LED controller that you can program with your own custom sequences and effects? Then read on. The RGB LED controller has proved to be very popular project and has been the most frequently downloaded code on the site since it was made available. I've been contacted by people who have incorporated this project into all kinds of things including mood lamps, lighting for a sculpture, accent lighting for rooms and an illuminated prize trophy. For 2006 I completely rewrote the application making it much easier to add, edit and change the sequence data. I also added a sleep function so a battery operated version can be built that doesn't need a power switch.

DorkbotPDX Instead of a weekly order, 2 layer circuit boards are now sent to the fab when the panel fills up. This means panels are going out 2 to 3 times a week instead of just once a week. Empower Network: Blog System The truth is that setting up a self-hosted blog that is optimized for marketing is an extremely difficult task. Knowing where to place ads, placing ad copy in those ads that converts to leads, understanding the proper text to use (plus more), AND putting it all together, is a highly advanced skill. The Viral Blogging System was designed by marketers, for marketers. When you buy the blog it comes out of the box set up for marketing. A lot of people will pay thousands of dollars to have a blog designed, usually by a designer - and later find out that most designers do not understand how to market; design work and marketing are two separate skills that are not related. The VBS has a slick looking design, is fully customizable to meet the individuals needs, and is set up to be optimized for your online marketing, if you buy it with the intention to use it for that purpose.

How to Convert a Computer ATX Power Supply to a Lab Power Supply Edit Article Edited by Abizarl, Krystle C., Jack Herrick, Vertent and 42 others Computer power supplies cost around US$30, but lab power supplies can run you $100 or more! By converting the cheap (free) ATX power supplies that can be found in any discarded computer, you can get a phenomenal lab power supply with huge current outputs, short circuit protection, and reasonably tight voltage regulation on the 5V line. Multiple Star Orbits Binary and multiple star systems are very common in our universe. About half of all stars are found in systems containing two or more stars. This web page shows the typical orbits for stars in binary, triple and quadruple star systems. These simulations show perfect star systems with stars of equal masses. Real multiple star systems are usually messier with stars of different masses at very different distances. Binary Star Systems

Hardware: Remote Control your Arduino « Your Warranty Is Void.com Have a giant Arduino powered killbot, but can’t fancy being right next to it when you unleash it on the unsuspecting populace? Want to change the mood-lights in your dorm without having to get up off the couch? Why not use IR remote controls to do the walking for you? In this article, I will be covering how to use the IRremote Library written by Ken Shirriff for the Arduino to control a seven segment display as a proof of concept.

Circuit Simulator Applet This is an electronic circuit simulator. When the applet starts up you will see an animated schematic of a simple LRC circuit. The green color indicates positive voltage. The gray color indicates ground. A red color indicates negative voltage. The moving yellow dots indicate current.
