Saudi cleric says driving risks damaging women's ovaries 29 September 2013Last updated at 11:27 ET Thousands have signed up to a campaign to defy the ban Women who drive risk damaging their ovaries and producing children with clinical problems, according to a conservative Saudi cleric. The comment, made by Sheikh Saleh al-Lohaidan, came as activists step up their campaign for women in Saudi Arabia to be allowed to drive. Women are being called upon to defy the ban and drive on 26 October. The campaign, started on Twitter, has attracted more than 11,000 signatures. It is the latest in a series of campaigns over the past two decades for women to be allowed to sit behind the wheel. The ban on women drivers, while informal, is enforced by Saudi police through fines and arrests. "If a woman drives a car, not out of pure necessity, that could have negative physiological impacts as functional and physiological medical studies show that it automatically affects the ovaries and pushes the pelvis upwards," Sheikh Lohaidan told the news website Sabq.org.

Father Daughter Photographic Amusement by Dave Engledow Every father knows his daughter is the most special, awesome, and incredible little girl in the world, but not many of us capture the magic in the unique way of photographer Dave Engledow. Dave’s joyful exploration of life with a daughter his life revolves around provides us with a look behind the scenes of every father’s real thoughts. Dave cheers on his toddling daughter as she smacks a boy to the ground in a toddler boxing match. He captures the moment as his daughter and friends protest the inadequacy of snacks and tyrannical abuse of parental nap power in their neighborhood. We delightedly watch as Dave and his daughter experiment with food, fire, and chemicals. The photographic mayhem from the mind of Dave Engledow, along with the the cuteness of his daughter, are imaginings any father can appreciate. Capture all the wild antics of Dave and his daughter on Dave’s Fotoblur pages. Via Fotoblur

Pressy gives Android devices another physical button With the meteoric rise in popularity of the touchscreen, something people tend to forget is the importance of physical buttons. Nimrod Back and his team are not among those who have forgotten, and they are looking to add an extra button to Android devices with an interesting new product called Pressy. It plugs into the headphone port, and adds all kinds of quick-access functions. View all The button itself, while cool, is only useful with a good application behind it. The application sits in the background and monitors the headphone jack for input from the user. Another major part of this project is the API, which will allow developers to build their own functionality with the button. Android 2.3 and newer is supported, so even some moderately old devices can get in on the action. iOS, on the other hand, is not. The Pressy team is seeking funding on Kickstarter. The (hilarious) Kickstarter pitch below provides more information on Pressy and shows it in action. Sources: Pressy, Kickstarter
