Startup Spotlight: GoToTags looks to be the one-stop shop for near field communication Craig Tadlock GoToTags founders Craig Tadlock and Keith Kegley saw an opportunity a few years ago when they realized that wireless sensor technology would become cheap enough for consumer use. Today, their startup is trying to fill in all of the key gaps around NFC, or near field communications, a technology that allows devices to communicate with one other over short distances. The company started by selling NFC-related products online at BuyNFCTags.com, a way for the entrepreneurs to get a better handle on the market.

Livestream: A Free Video Streaming Host To Share Your Live Video Feed So you have a great idea for a web show but you have no idea where you’d like to archive it yet alone no idea where you’d like to stream it live to your viewers. But you want a good service. In this article, we’ll take a look at the popular, free live video streaming host Livestream. So, if you’ve got the show idea, a webcam, a good internet connection, microphone and a computer, Livestream has the tools you need to get your show live! Livestream, originally known to some as Mogulus, is a free video streaming host that provides a live stream solution which allows you to create your own internet TV channel for broadcasting on your website through their player or on your channel page with them, 24/7. Livestream provides the “studio”, an elaborate flash app on their website where you can create a team of reporters, cue webcams, manage your library, record shows, control an “autopilot” that manages your channel, and manage a video-on-demand for your viewers.

Near Field Communication Near Field Communication (NFC) is a set of short-range wireless technologies, typically requiring a distance of 4cm or less to initiate a connection. NFC allows you to share small payloads of data between an NFC tag and an Android-powered device, or between two Android-powered devices. Tags can range in complexity. Want to Broadcast Live? Livestream Makes It Cheaper With New Hardware Free apps and webcam-based streaming services make putting live video on the Internet accessible to just about anyone with a connected device. Streaming broadcast-quality live video, however, still requires expensive equipment that most people don't have on hand. Livestream, a site for streaming live events, is aiming to lower this barrier of entry with its first hardware product. On Thursday, the startup announced Broadcaster: a tiny red box that plugs in to any camera, encodes the video in real-time HD and uses either a wireless connection or a 3G/4G USB modem to upload it to the Livestream site — all without any need for a computer. The device can also be used as a battery-powered desktop encoder, and it will be sold on the Livestream site for $495.
