Build Organized Lower Cabinet Rollouts for Increased Kitchen Storage Overview 1 of 1 Get more storage space—without remodeling Lower cabinets offer the biggest storage spaces in most kitchens. But according to kitchen designers, the back half of this space is usually wasted—it's packed with long-forgotten junk or left unused because stored items are out of view and hard to reach. Rollout bins let you see and use the whole space. If you're tired of digging through cans and boxes to find a jar of tomato sauce hidden at the back of the cabinet, these rollout bins might be just the ticket. This article will show you how to build them. Money, time and tools All the materials for these three rollouts were less than half the cost of three manufactured rollouts—a healthy savings. You don't need advanced cabinet building skills or tools to make your own rollouts—the joinery and assembly are simple. operation organization: 7 Habits of Highly Organized People I would not say I was born naturally organized. I've more often identified myself as a more right-brained creative type. However, I've always enjoyed the pursuits and observed the positive effects of organization since childhood. I have found that maintaining a truly consistent organized lifestyle takes a lot of intentional effort, discipline, and practice to achieve. But, it's WORTH it! Beginning my own family has probably afforded me the greatest opportunity to observe a few of the biggest benefits of managing a simplified and organized home and life: To find things when I need them {quickly}.To feel as though I'm being a good steward with my time. As I've grown in my knowledge and understanding of organization through real life experience, and intentional education over the years, I've observed there are a few habits that have helped me maintain an organized lifestyle: 1. FREE your mind. 2. Clutter is magnetic. 3. Eliminate the idea of a "junk drawer" where random items are tossed. 4.

Kitchen Storage Projects That Create More Space These simple racks will help transform those chaotic gangs of spice bottles and pan lids into orderly regiments. We show you how to build only the spice rack; the lid rack uses the same steps but without the shelves Each spice rack can hold 20 to 30 bottles, and each lid rack two to six lids, depending on the height and width of your cabinet doors. Before building, measure your spice bottles and lids to determine the spacing of your shelves and dowels. Here are other key measurements and clearances to keep an eye on: Existing shelf depth. Spice rack depth and positioning. We used soft, easy-to-nail pine and basswood for both the spice and the lid racks.

If It’s Not Useful Or Beautiful – It’s Clutter 1.4K Flares1.4K Flares × This quote from artist and textile designer William Morris is a pithy prescription for avoiding clutter in your home. Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. To earn its place in your house, office, closet or life, according to Morris, each thing must: Serve a useful purpose and/orMake you happy. Which means you can count as clutter anything that: You don’t use regularlyDoesn’t workYou find uglyHas unpleasant memories or associationsIs tatty or dirty or broken or uncomfortableDoesn’t suit youYou only keep because it was expensiveWas a gift but has so meaning for youYou will use one day… maybe. Take Morris’s words to heart. For everything in your world, if you don’t use it or love it… then let it go.

Pantry Ideas – DIY Canned Food Storage Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! I am back today to share our next ‘Shanty Storage Solution’ with you! As I mentioned in my DIY Spice Rack post, Ash and I are on a mission to use our love of wood and DIY to create solutions for our kitchens and our homes that help things run more smoothly and efficiently. My next project was to tackle my canned food collection! Awwww… SO much better than how they used to be! I do think it’s cute, but I was going batty stacking my cans on an hourly basis! I made these canned food organizers in 2 sizes. Here we go! Supplies! For each organizer I used 1/4″ hardwood plywood. I also used a 1×12 for my shelf pieces. I also use a 1/2″x2″ pine board for my bottom shelf front piece. When you break it down, these cost under $5 a piece to make. Cuts! For the sides you will need 2 pieces of 1/4″ plywood cut to this.. For the shelf piece I cut my 1×12 into 4.75″ pieces. Next, I marked both of my side pieces for my shelves! Mark each side like this… Easy!

How to Clean Your Dishwasher This post is brought to you by Amazon where you can get deals on appliances Someone recently asked about cleaning the inside of the dishwasher. Anonymous said… This sounds great, I’m going to try it next time I get groceries…..Do you have a recipe to use for cleaning the dishwasher itself? February 10, 2012 8:09 pm After reading this my initial reaction was….Washing the Washer? I gave it some thought and even did some research on it…but sort of shuffled it to the bottom of the “To Do” List because it wasn’t something I had had to deal with…yet….since our dishwasher is less than a year old. Well, SOMEONE must have thought I had put it off long enough….because yesterday when I opened my dishwasher, this is what I found! A whole lot of dirty dish water standing in the bottom of it. ugh. Well I knew it was only a matter of time before my dishwasher started to smell bad if I didn’t find a way to get rid of the standing water in the bottom. Yep, that’s a hard chunk alright. :-/ I swear folks!

CD Rack As Storage Space In Kitchen A place to store small nicknacks in and larger supplies on top We bought a neutral wooden CD rack at a cheap store (Xenos), painted it white on the inside and shiny black on the outside with some leftover paint (after sanding of course) and hung it on the wall of our kitchen. At first we put our little pots of seasonings, salt etc. in it but those are in a separate rack now. The CD rack now contains all kinds of nicknacks that have no other place in the kitchen. We used large screws to secure it to the wall. The estimated time of this project is mainly sanding and painting. The stuff below the rack is standing on a normal shelve that we added later.

ALWAYS use interfacing on any bag piece where the pattern reads "cut [specified number] i/f". Interfacing creates structure if it is used on the body of the bag - but is entirely optional here, and using it depends on the weight of the fabric and the finished look that you require. By fusing interfacing to every piece of the outside of the bag you'll add a lot more structure and "OOMPH" to the fabric. You can interface the lining if you want a stiff lining, but it shouldn't be the main support in the bag. It's important to remember that by adding an extra layer of interfacing to a bag piece, you are also increasing the bulk of the fabric. New Year, New Organization It’s not a resolution per say, but with all the organization buzz this month I decided to try and really improve my HMS. That’s Household Management System. Using an acronym makes me feel important, try to go with it. After extensive research, my kitchen command center was born. Since the kitchen is where papers pile up and where people tend to congregate, the counter was the perfect place. Each one of us has our own folder, plus there is one for new unsorted mail. In my notebook, I have a daily task and a weekly task sheet. I downloaded these from Simple Mom, she has tons of useful forms here. Part of my organization goals includes meal planning 2 weeks at a time. The weekly task checklist helps me keep track of household chores. What about you guys? *******Linked Up********
