Pourtant, jusqu’à récemment, il existait une nette séparation entre les travaux souvent brillants des amateurs et ceux des roboticiens professionnels. Jusqu’ici, le choix du logiciel propriétaire restait la norme chez les fabricants. Mais les choses changent. On apprend ainsi que la société française Aldebaran a décidé de publier le code source de son robot humanoïde Nao (il a toujours été possible de “customiser” Nao via des langages de script, mais il s’agit là d’offrir l’accès au coeur des fonctionnalités du robot). La société Willow Garage, elle, revendique depuis longtemps le modèle open source pour son logiciel de robotique. Récemment, ROS a connu une nouvelle étape dans son développement, puisque Google vient d’annoncer la mise à disposition de ROSjava.

Converting an Inkjet Printer to Print PCBs Recently one of my focuses has been to find a way to make the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) creation process easier. I like being able to design something based on what I want in a circuit and just making it myself on the random weekend. While the toner transfer method has been my go to in the past it’s just not nearly as consistent as I would like it to be. About a year and a half ago I found this webpage on modifying an Epson inkjet printer into a printer capable of printing on thicker materials such as copper clad board used by hobbyists such as myself to create custom circuit boards. Since I've been working on my own website (www.ryanpourcillie.com) I've documented everything about the project and thought it would be good to put it multiple places so hopefully numerous people can see it and try something new for themselves. If you’re anything like me, your answer is probably along the lines of “I… have absolutely no idea.” Most people’s brains just don’t work that way. But odds are, Google knows. They probably know where you’ve been most other days, too. If you carry any Google-filled gear (like, say, an Android phone or tablet), there was a prompt during the initial setup that asked if Google could transmit your location data back to the mothership. Now, something to note: if you’ve been paying close attention, you might have seen this before. I use “awesome”, here, instead of “terrifying and creepy”, because this is all opt-in.
