Animal Life Cycles (FREE Learning Material) We are still continuing our vertebrate study and at this point we explored the life cycle of each group. The aim of this study is to compare the life cycle of each group, to differentiate their development and identify their similarities as well. Prior to this, I introduced the Animal Kingdom and the Vertebrate group. To start off, we have The Life Cycle of a Frog for amphibians.

Guess My Rule Game This function machine game was created to give students practice in saying and writing the rule, given an input/output table. One student has the rule which the other student has to guess. The guesser records an input number in the table. The rule person must apply the rule and tell the output number. Student pairs repeat this until the guesser correctly identifies the rule by saying and writing it. Students then switch places and repeat the activity.

Relief Teaching Ideas Daylight savings kicked in for most Australian states this past weekend. I grew up in Western Australia, a state that doesn’t have daylight savings. Since moving to Adelaide I would find myself confused every time it came around. Do I add or take away an hour? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE it! Motion: Introduction Motion is one of the key topics in physics. Everything in the universe moves. It might only be a small amount of movement and very very slow, but movement does happen. Don't forget that even if you appear to be standing still, the Earth is moving around the Sun, and the Sun is moving around our galaxy. The movement never stops.

Introduction to Coordinate Graphing Introduce elementary students to coordinate graphing through seasonal coloring activities. The fall Jack-O-Lantern activity requires students to use the grid code and crayons or markers to create a jack-o-lantern on a blank 9x9 grid. The use of letters on the horizontal axis and numbers on the vertical axis introduces young students to coordinate pairs without the confusion of the standard (h,v) format. The Answer Is....PART TWO My classroom is an ever evolving entity (a Triple E if you will....). I try something new and it may work or it may not. Sometimes, things that I try actually grow even more from their inception. That is what is happening with "The Answer Is...". A few months back I posted about how I was using "The Answer Is" in my classroom (you can read about it here). I wanted to post an update to tell you how it has evolved and changed to become even more interactive.

Galileo Drops the Ball - Virtual Experiment In around 1590 Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) climbed up the Leaning Tower of Pisa and dropped some balls to the ground. Two balls of different masses, but of similar shape and density that were released together hit the ground at the same time. Until then it was commonly believed that heavy things fall faster than light things. Many people still believe this, and casual observation of everyday phenomena often does tend to confirm this view. Acceleration - Physics for Kids! Acceleration is a way to measure how fast something is speeding up. Suppose you are riding your bike. You start out going very slowly, hardly pedaling at all.
