John Abizaid, the report looks into allegations of improper handling at the Dover Air Force base's mortuary of the remains of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. On Tuesday, the Pentagon released the 9-member panel's findings in an 86-page report (.pdf). Prior to 2008, portions of remains that could neither be tested nor identified ...were cremated under contract at a civilian crematory and returned to DPM [Dover Port Mortuary]. The practice ceased in 2008. Rep. Holt originally wrote Defense Secretary Leon Panetta about the concern in a letter last September.

He stands in front of the metal detector--the first place they usually screen me. He tells me I am holding up the line. He asks me to go with him to some undisclosed location to “talk”. He asks me what airline I'm on. I say as loudly and clearly as I can, "I am being told I can not fly for reading you the Fourth Amendment." He says, "If you keep this up I'll call the police." I say as loud as I can, "You are going to arrest me for reading the Constitution?" "You are disrupting the screening process, and yes we will arrest you." Again, I say I will be screened but not by the machine. The police do come, two of them. I look behind him to the startled mass of silent passengers. They jack hammer questions at me, name, where am I from, phone number, etc. "What?"

Cette question vous paraît peut-être sans grand intérêt… Pourtant, une histoire narrée dans un temps passé n’aura pas le même impacte sur vos lecteurs qu’une autre écrite au présent. Les deux temps peuvent bien sûr être utilisés, mais il important d’en comprendre leurs « avantages » et « inconvénients ». L’utilisation du passé ou du présent dans la narration n’est pas une chose anodine et peut avoir d’importantes répercutions sur la façon dont les lecteurs vont se l’approprier. En effet, celui-ci ne se positionnera pas de la même façon face un texte au présent, dans lequel il vivra l’histoire au fil de son déroulement, en direct et en tant « qu’acteur », que dans un texte au passé, qui sera plus à même de le plonger dans une sorte de rétrospective. Occupy Oakland inmates at Santa Rita attacked- developing story Santa Rita jail in Dublin, CA In the aftermath of the mass arrests of Occupy Oakland protesters-- and whoever else happend to be on the wrong street at the wrong time-- on Jan. 28 in Oakland, there have been loads of reports and rumors about brutality inflicted on those arrested. Most of those arrested were held in Santa Rita jail. My observations: I spent 20 hours in jail, and I saw some cruel treatment. Reports: I have reports directly from sources of arrested occupiers being beat up in jail with police batons. Exploiting superheroes, then, has long been an exercise in disconnection—prying Superman apart from Siegel and Shuster, leveraging Captain America or Iron Man away from Jack Kirby, splitting Watchmen away from Alan Moore .
