Crafter's Living Room Vignette Day One: “Ah yes, the first of the week and the house is finally all neat and tidy…the pillows & magazines are all lined up, the books are neatly stacked on their shelf, the carpet is vacuumed, all is right with the world…and it is going to stay this way. I am only going to craft in my workroom. I mean it. I will not bring one thing into this room that does not belong here! Seriously, there is no need to bring projects in here to work on. “Huh, what do you mean “that will be the day”? AH-HA! Moments - Nana's Dollhouses and Miniatures AH-HA MomentsAfter working on dollhouses and miniatures for years, here are some of my AH-HA moments. Dying Easter Eggs This is a really simple project. I printed out miniaturized newspapers, and the egg dye containers were made by cutting the plastic back off Junior Tylenol. I formed the eggs from clay and mixed resin and acrylic paint to get the colors. If you don't have resin, clear glue works too. Miniature Bottles I had an "Ah-ha!" Toothpick Candles These candles were made from toothpicks painted white. Drinking Glasses The little clear plastic protector on paint brushes can be cut into sections making great drinking glasses. Hooks Use needle nose pliers to form Metal earring backings into hooks to hang a robe on the back of the bathroom door; a plant; or suspend curtain rods. Conservatory I saw a conservatory in a magazine and thought I'd try my hand at making one using basswood strips, jewelry findings, and some little flowers. Tissue Boxes Calendar Record The Keys Lampshades Ribbon Rug

Let's Build A Dollhouse Sofa Let's Build a Dollhouse Sofa When you are just starting out with a new dollhouse, it takes a while to fill it with furniture. It would be great fun to buy everything, but this is not always feasible, so making some of the furniture is a good option. Upholstered furniture is relatively simple to make, you can make a dollhouse sofa with very little money out of just cardboard and fabric. Of course, once you get the hang of it, you can make an armchair or a loveseat, using the same method. The main thing to remember is that we don't want any raw edges on the fabric to show. I use spray starch and my iron where it is necessary to fold down the raw edges. You will notice that I have not given any measurements, thinking that you will all want different sizes, depending on the space you have to put it in. It is much easier for me to actually make a dollhouse sofa, than to explain in writing how to do it, so I have taken photographs and given step by step instuctions with each photo.
