mycreativedays | bringing creativity to your daymycreativedays | bringing creativity to your day Crafter's Living Room Vignette Day One: “Ah yes, the first of the week and the house is finally all neat and tidy…the pillows & magazines are all lined up, the books are neatly stacked on their shelf, the carpet is vacuumed, all is right with the world…and it is going to stay this way. I am only going to craft in my workroom. I mean it. I will not bring one thing into this room that does not belong here! Seriously, there is no need to bring projects in here to work on. “Huh, what do you mean “that will be the day”? (Scroll down daily to find more Creative Mind projects and changes in the room) Have fun and enjoy, Joann I have created this scene on a white 8” x 10” picture frame. Instructions: -From ½” foam core board cut a sofa back 4 ½” x 2 ½”, a sofa bottom 4 ½” x 1 ¾”, two sofa arms 2 ½” x 1 ¾”, two cushions 2 ¼” x 1 ¾”. -Working on the sofa back piece, use your thumb nail or a round pencil to compress the top front edge to round it off. Cut out the print, leaving a seam allowance all around. FLOOR LAMP (non working)
paper bag tiara - happy hooligans - paper bag hats for dress up play Got a little girl who loves to craft and adores fairy crafts? She’ll love making this sweet and simple paper bag tiara. I got the idea for a paper bag tiara after making our paper bag nests the other day. The hooligans will be using their tiaras for dress-up and pretend play here in my daycare, but I think you could totally use a paper bag tiara as an inexpensive accessory for a fairy/princess halloween costume. Making these tiaras was especially fun for the hooligans because they got to use our low heat glue guns. This was one of those crafts that you have a vision for, but you’re not entirely sure what it will really look like until it’s done. Let’s get started… To make your Paper Bag Tiara, you’ll need: I always pick up artificial flowers when I’m second-hand shopping. How to make the tiara: For starters, cut off the bottom of the paper bag. Next, rolled the edge of the paper bag outward. Lookin’ good already, isn’t it? Now, hand everything over to your little side-kick. Kids and Glue Guns:
Let's Build A Dollhouse Sofa Let's Build a Dollhouse Sofa When you are just starting out with a new dollhouse, it takes a while to fill it with furniture. It would be great fun to buy everything, but this is not always feasible, so making some of the furniture is a good option. Upholstered furniture is relatively simple to make, you can make a dollhouse sofa with very little money out of just cardboard and fabric. Of course, once you get the hang of it, you can make an armchair or a loveseat, using the same method. The main thing to remember is that we don't want any raw edges on the fabric to show. I use spray starch and my iron where it is necessary to fold down the raw edges. You will notice that I have not given any measurements, thinking that you will all want different sizes, depending on the space you have to put it in. It is much easier for me to actually make a dollhouse sofa, than to explain in writing how to do it, so I have taken photographs and given step by step instuctions with each photo.
Welcome To The Crazy House | ArtClubBlog The wonderful work of artist Tyree Guyton had to inspire a project. If you didn’t get a chance to see my last post about The Heidelberg Project, do have a look at what this artist did for his hometown in Detroit. It involved using art to reclaim the deteriorating neighbourhood he grew up in, and began with painting houses in bright colours and beautiful polka dots, and embellishing them with recycled items and found objects. They all look a bit crazy, but they all have a story to tell. Making a crazy toy house is a great way to tell a story, and provide a space for favourite toys and characters.
