GoonerNow – Arsenal Blog and Latest Arsenal News » Blog Archive » Helping Le Prof Find His Form(ation)ula There’s no doubt that when Arsenal were at their most successful they were playing a very simple yet effective 4-4-2/4-4-1-1.A rock solid back four -which contained a peaking Sol Campbell and a young Kolo Touré- coupled with two physically dominating yet creative midfielders, two of the best wide players to grace an Arsenal shirt and four strikers so good that no matter who was injured or suspended there would always be a world class strike partnership up front. With players like; Bergkamp, Henry, Kanu and Wiltord we were never short of goals up top . used under creative commons courteys of Ronnie Macdonald

Chessboxing The basic idea in chessboxing is to combine the #1 thinking sport and the #1 fighting sport into a hybrid that demands the most of its competitors – both mentally and physically. In a chessboxing fight two opponents play alternating rounds of chess and boxing. The contest starts with a round of chess, followed by a boxing round, followed by another round of chess and so on. A contest consists of 11 rounds, 6 rounds of chess, 5 rounds of boxing.

Cheese Rolling At Coopers Hill In Gloucestershire Picture Courtesy of Adam Wood Did you compete? Did you come in the first three places? Please let us have your details for the record of the event. Cheese Ban News media around the world are now reporting an attempt to prevent Diana Smart from selling her Double Gloucester Cheeses which have traditionally been used in the Cheese-Rolling at Cooper's Hill. Diana Smart will surely appreciate the publicity for her now unique product! Oh Arsenal, Where Art Though? In the past few weeks, we have had to witness some of the most frustratingly lack-lustre, nonchalant and dire performances of the season so far. After what seemed a promising beginning to the 2012/13 campaign, full of impressive defensive performances, exceedingly good midfield play, what were the beginnings of exciting attacking flare and even glimpses of title-winning passion, the team have suddenly started to steadily disintegrate. This period has worried many fans to such an extent that Wenger’s job has been questioned as never before.

'Victory Through Harmony': It applies to us all. - Last week I wrote a piece concerning the passion and attitude of the Arsenal players. I questioned their mentality, their urgency and their drive for success, I suggested that the players needed to find not only their feet, but their hearts again. But over the weekend, a matter came to my attention which may not be as important in terms of physically changing matters on the field, but is more integral to my confidence and happiness as a supporter of Arsenal Football Club. So I have decided to take to my keyboard once again. Over the past few days, I have seen the fans of my beloved club become divided. However this division is not simply a straight-cut down the middle, with two groups confronting one another and taking opposite sides of one, singular argument.

Arsenal Team News & Probable Starting XI Just a quick bit of team news today, Arsenal could qualify for the last stages of the Champions League with a win over Montpellier this evening, who start the game bottom of the group. The injury news is bitter sweet, Gervinho and Gibbs make their return to squad after injury, but Theo Walcott is out due to a shoulder problem, probably picked up in the previous game against Spurs. Hopefully this only looks short term and should be back to premier league action shortly. Meanwhile Andre Santos misses out due to a stomach problem. Given the return of gibbs, I predict he will start the match at left back, which has been a real problem position for us of late, both Santos and Vermaelen have deputised in these areas recently with mixed results. Although Koscielny has been pretty solid recently, I think he will start on the bench with Wenger choosing the preffered Mertesacker and Vermaelen.
