TechCrunch Serge Salat – Beyond the Vision | Anti-Utopias French artist Serge Salat’s multi-sensory installation “Beyond the Vision” reveals new and astounding cosmic visions to the audience. The artwork travelled 10 cities of China, including Shanghai and Beijing, from September to November 2011. Inspiration Since 1988, Serge Salat has built multi-sensory art spaces interweaving virtual reality and fractal art. The installations are full-scale rooms, closed private cosmos in which the audience penetrates and participates to a mystical journey through its physical and emotional stimulations. Serge Salat’s work blends Eastern Chinese philosophy and cosmic visions with advanced contemporary techniques. The installations bring in a single whole electronic art, music, sculpture and architecture. The Journey – Beyond the Vision The journey into the art space evolves in deep layers of dreams endlessly nested in each other, in which the visitor progresses into reflected layers. Serge Salat

An example of a Lens is Seif's People Lens: In short, a Lens is something a user will access from either search or via a dedicated button on their launcher. So while you wouldn't browse your photos in a lens, you would expect it to return a list of thumbnails when you search for "2011 Vacation", and then take you to the photo application. 3D Reconstruction – Computer Graphics and Geometry Laboratory Short Summary Symmetry is a ubiquitous concept and repetitions are very common in many man-made objects because of its impact on economical and functional considerations and aesthetic concerns. The goal of this project is to explore the notion of symmetry as a means to provide non-local coupling between geometric computations and to extract semantic information in order to improve the 3D reconstruction quality, specifically in the context of urban reconstruction. Project Description Symmetry is regularly used as an organizing principle in urban planning and design, while use of repeating structures is reinforced to ease the construction process. Results We present a structure-from-motion framework that detects and conforms to structural regularities, while simultaneously recovering 3D geometry starting from a set of facade images. We present a coupled formulation for detecting symmetric line arrangements and 3D reconstruction for producing factored facade models. Publications
