In fact, some of you might already do this unconsciously; how many of you listen to music as you design? As a writer, I keep my headphones on when I write so I can let the music inspire me, so I imagine other creative types would find music to be just as helpful to their own work. But a closer look at how music works can really give us a sense for how its elements can directly translate into great design. Kaija Saariahon soivat kuvakudokset ja yksisarvinen | Elävä arkisto Kaija Saariahon mielessä oli itänyt jo pitkään ajatus klarinettikonsertosta Kari Kriikulle. Oopperan Ariadna Mater (2006) klarinettiosuus alkoikin hiljalleen saada yhä solistisempia piirteitä. Varsinaisen klarinettikonserton sävellystyön Saariaho aloitti syksyllä 2009. Ensimmäistä oopperaansa Kaukainen rakkaus varten materiaalia etsiessään Kaija Saariaho tutustui Pariisin Keskiaikaisessa museossa kuvakudossarjaan Neito ja yksisarvinen. Sarja kuvaa symbolein ihmisen viiden tunnetun aistin lisäksi myös kuuluisaa kuudetta aistia. Saariaho on nimennyt konserttonsa osat aistien mukaan. ”Tämän kuudennen kuvakudoksen nimeä ja sisältöä on tulkittu ja tutkittu paljon. Having raised an initial $6.2m via a Kickstarter campaign last year, music for the new format is now available to buy via www.ponomusic.force.com with the cost of an album ranging from $17.99 up to $27.49.
