Blackhat SEO - Esrun » Cookie stuffing
Before even considering cookie stuffing please read my post on dropping affiliate cookies. It’s not my place to judge people and their methods but I want to at least point out the moral and legal implications before you go running amok and stuffing cookies everywhere. Forget About Being a Lean Startup, Focus on Building a Lean Company
Much has been written about building lean startups. It's certainly possible today for many startups to get to a minimum viable product and early customer validation with a lot less than was possible 10 or even 5 years ago. But ultimately if you want to build a significant company versus having a flash-in-the-pan that you sell quickly, it takes time, work, and more than a few people. All of these resources take money. The world has changed for many an aspiring entrepreneur. No longer do they have the largest market in the world to themselves. Thankfully the rise of the social internet, globally ubiquitous broadband, and the always-connectedness provided in the new era of smartphones is enabling many Silicon Valley startups to start with the necessary foundation to grow into lean companies. The Rise of the Social Internet: In Silicon Valley, businesses are started and built on relationships. The Age of the Smartphone: Finally, in the age of smartphones we are all always connected.

Journal: VPS Comparison between Slicehost and Prgmr
An entry from 2009-05-02 in the Journal. For the last year I've been using a 256MB VPS from Slicehost to host a low traffic site running Django. I've also used the slice as a development platform thanks to screen and vim. Two weeks ago I came across a mention of another Xen based VPS provider called Prgmr. I decided to rent a 256MB instance from Prgmr (sets you back $8/month) and compare it against my trusty old slice with the same memory configuration. Lets first take a look at the system specifications. # uname -nrmo slicehost.uggedal.com 2.6.24-23-xen x86_64 GNU/Linux # grep "MemTotal" /proc/meminfo MemTotal: 262316 kB # grep -m 4 -e "model name" -e "MHz" -e "cache size" -e "bogomips" /proc/cpuinfo model name : Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2212 cpu MHz : 2010.300 cache size : 1024 KB bogomips : 4026.86 # grep "processor" /proc/cpuinfo | wc -l 4 And the same output from Prgmr: As we can see they are both Running Debian GNU/Linux 5.0. Django test suite for i in {1..20}do time .
