Demoscene
Concept[edit] History[edit] The earliest computer programs that have some resemblance to demos and demo effects can be found among the so-called display hacks. Demos in the demoscene sense began as software crackers' "signatures", that is, crack screens and crack intros attached to software whose copy protection was removed. Competition[edit] Party-based competitions usually require the artist or a group member to be present at the event. There are no criteria or rules the voters should be bound by, and a visitor typically just votes for those entries that made the biggest impression on him or her. The demoscene constitutes the most part of its own audience, with the opinions of the community itself considered the most valid. In the recent years, an initiative to award demos in an alternative way arose by the name of the Scene.org Awards. Parties[edit] Demoscene events are most frequent in Europe, with around fifty parties every year. Demo types[edit] Groups[edit] Impact[edit] See also[edit]

your online demoscene resource Beyond Civilization Beyond Civilization is Quinn's foremost text on new tribalism. The book contains one-page explorations into a variety of topics, in the form of reflections, parables, autobiographical accounts, short essays, and deliberate clarifications of ideas introduced in his previous books. Synopsis[edit] Within the main body of Beyond Civilization, each page contains its own chapter-like heading and a few paragraphs exploring the topic of that heading. Part 1: Closing In on the Problem[edit] Quinn states his reasons for writing the book and focuses on clarifying his idea in The Story of B that “If the world is saved, it will not be by old minds with new programs but by new minds with no programs at all.” Part 2: Closing In on the Process[edit] Quinn discusses the memes that are regarded as infallible within our own, world-dominating culture. Part 3: Walking Away from the Pyramid[edit] Part 4: Toward the New Tribalism[edit] Part 5: The Tribe of Crow[edit] Quinn goes into detail about homelessness.

The Demoscene -- an Overview Ikari crack intro for Commodore 64 from 1989 1. Introduction The demoscene is an international collective of programmers, graphics artists and musicians who create real-time audio-visual presentations with home computers. These people call themselves demosceners or just sceners. In this article, we want to introduce demos and the demoscene to the uninitiated reader.1 In the recent 10 years or so, social scientists, humanists and media researchers have written a number of texts that present the topic. Generally, the existing studies can be separated into two domains. These existing works have opened up important and relevant points for discussion. In this introduction, we thus focus on what demosceners do and the diverse artifacts they produce. 2. As the name already suggests, the main activity of the demoscene is making "demos".

Bottling and Aging Mead Bottling and Aging Mead Depending on the recipe and the style of mead you are making, you have several options to consider before bottling your mead. The mead can be sweetened by adding additional honey or enhanced by adding flavorings. If no fermentation occurs after bottling, the mead will remain still. If you bottle mead while it is still fermenting, and adequate sugar remains, you will end up with sparkling mead. The level of alcohol in your mead will help to keep unwanted microbes at bay, but sanitization remains important when bottling. Bottles can be filled using a racking cane or auto-siphon and some plastic tubing. bottles slowly causing as little aeration as possible. Make sure to choose the right type of bottle and style of closure for your mead. Store your mead in a cool dark place and let it age. Back to 'Brewing Basics'
