Soft Pretzel Bites with Cheese Sauce

Soft Pretzel Bites with Cheese Sauce
I am a complete sucker for mall pretzels. And it’s a darn good thing that you’ll only find me at the mall once or twice a year because more trips would like equal more pretzels. And as much as I love them, I’ve only made them once before, admittedly to great success but since Kyle isn’t a huge fan (crazy boy), I haven’t made them again. So this recipe isn’t any big secret; in fact, it’s probably the most widely adored one out there but if you haven’t made it yet, you need to get.on.it. Soft Pretzel Bites with Cheese Sauce If one batch of pretzels is too much for your needs or you want to make them in advance for a party, these pretzel bites can be frozen after you cut them and before you boil them. Ingredients For the pretzels: For the cheese sauce: 2 tbsp unsalted butter2 tbsp all-purpose flour1 cup milk8 oz extra sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (not package pre-shredded cheese - shred your own)Kosher salt Instructions Source

Homemade Ranch Dressing Recipe More from $5 Dinners on Pinterest I love, love, love my homemade taco seasoning mix. It’s convenient, cheap and oh-so-tasty. And I’m mixing up a new homemade seasoning mix today…this time for ranch dressing! This past weekend I planted some lettuce and other cold weather veggies (more on that this weekend). I try to eat a salad for lunch everyday and usually mix up a quick vinaigrette (yeah for cheap olive oil this week!). I also love this because it costs a fraction of what you would pay for a packet at the store, and makes twice as much! Before we get to the recipe, how about a few homemade seasoning mixes to try out! Our new Favado grocery savings app is now available! The soft and flaky Parotta, also known as Barotta or Porotta, is popular in the Southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. It is a common sight to find crowds thronging the road side stalls where heaps of layered parottas hot off the stove are served with a curry both for breakfast and evening tiffin or dinner. This popular street food fare is usually served with salna or kurma. There are numerous avatars of Parotta where the shape and accompaniments vary from region to region. Tips For Sewing With "Minkie" I love this fabric! It's called minky, and it is soooooo soft. I've used it in quite a few projects, from QUILTS to OWLS to SLIPPERS. But, there's no way around it, it is hard to work with. I thought I'd share what I've learned about sewing with minky in hopes that less people will make the same mistakes as me. Tip #1 Pin A LOT! Tip #2 Spray adhesive is fantastic. Jumbo Jalapeno Popper Stuffed Soft Pretzels - Cooking for Keeps Even though I just made a gigantic batch of homemade soft pretzels a few weeks back, I realized pretty early on that my craving wasn’t quite satisfied since I was still dying for more. I get like that, I’ll love something I make and then try to think of a thousand different ways for me to justify eating the same thing over and over again. So, after daydreaming a few hours of my life away, I knew I wanted to do some sort of spin on a jalapeno popper (what would football season be without a riff on the jalapeno popper?!) and I knew that I wanted the whole thing to be wrapped together in one pretty little package. I mean unless you’ve been living under a rock or just don’t read food blogs, you know who Tieghan is – a very talented food blogger that has infinite creative juices. The great thing about these is that there is no need for a sauce; since the cheese is inside the pretzel it tastes like you’ve already dipped the soft dough into a big fat bowl of spicy queso, and bonus?

Foodie Fridays: Fresh « Canadian Gift Guide Foodie Fridays: Fresh Posted by CGG on October 14, 2011 · 32 Comments If you’ve been lucky enough to visit one of the mini-chain of restaurants in Toronto known as Fresh, then you’ll be super excited for this post. As I spelled out above, Fresh is a small chain of Canadian-owned and operated restaurants, which originally started as a juice bar twenty years ago. Along with dozens of recipes in the usual categories of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, brunches, sweets, and sauces, the cookbook also includes recipes for a bunch of their legendary juices. Generally speaking, I’d say this is a book for someone that’s relatively comfortable with cooking, particularly vegan cooking. To tantalize your taste buds, I’ve got the recipe here for Fresh’s famous Tangled Thai Salad – one of their MOST requested recipes, among several others featured in the book (like their Quinoa Onion Rings!). Tangled Thai Salad Serves 1 as a meal 1 cup chopped napa cabbage 3 slices cucumber, halved 1. 2.

German Style Soft Pretzels Maybe it is my German background… or maybe my love of all things salty, but I think nothing is better than a hot pretzel. Soft pretzels are great, but they are only good fresh. Luckily they are not too tough to make at home. The following recipe may look long, but it is easier than making bread. In order to give the pretzels a dunk in boiling water gives them their chewy skin. Ingredients:1 teaspoon instant yeast1 tablespoon malt powder or brown sugar2 to 3 cups all-purpose unbleached or bread flour1 teaspoon salt1 cup warm milk (approximately 110 degrees, which is 1 minute in my microwave)Directions:Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix together until it forms a ball.

saltines have never had it so good... ...and neither have I. Quick, easy, and undeniably drool-inducing--what could be better? Curly Girl Kitchen: the Best Soft Pretzel I ever ate... and Making my own Pretzels In October during our vacation week, we had been out and about in Denver one day, and stopped at the Cherry Creek Mall since we were nearby. I wanted to look for something at Williams Sonoma but ended up discovering Sur la Table instead, which was just as fun. Those stores carry things that I didn't even know I needed! I managed to restrain myself, though. When we got to the mall, it was late afternoon, and we hadn't eaten since breakfast, but since we had dinner plans and didn't want to eat a big lunch lunch so late in the day, we were looking around for a snack to tide us over. And then I saw the soft pretzels. I got to thinking about trying to make them myself. So for my baking experiment a few weekends ago, instead of a dessert, I made pretzels. Since the recipe made 8 soft pretzels, I used just half the dough to make 4 soft pretzels - two salted, one with cinnamon and sugar, and one with cheddar and jalapenos. garlic noodles $1.68 recipe / $0.42 serving (updated 7-28-15) Today I made my first visit to our local Vietnamese grocery store where I picked up a couple basic sauces to add to my well stocked kitchen. One of the sauces I bought was an oyster sauce ($1.99 for 18 oz.) which is an excellent condiment for anything from noodles or rice to fish and meat. Soft Pretzels - Alton Brown Style I love soft pretzels - who doesn't? I just never seem to get them outside of fair settings. And then the other week, Alton Brown did a show on homemade pretzels - it was a sign! So I went to the food network's site and I grabbed the recipe. ( The Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups warm (110 to 115 degrees F) water 1 tablespoon sugar2 teaspoons kosher salt1 package active dry yeast22 ounces all-purpose flour, approximately 4 1/2 cups2 ounces unsalted butter, meltedVegetable oil, for pan10 cups water2/3 cup baking soda1 large egg yolk beaten with 1 tablespoon waterPretzel salt (note, I simply used Kosher salt) ALTON: Combine the water, sugar and kosher salt in the bowl of a stand mixer and sprinkle the yeast on top. 66 Things You Can Grow In Containers Growing your own food is exciting, not only because you get to see things grow from nothing into ready-to-eat fruits and veggies, but you also don't have to worry about the pesticides they might contain, and you definitely cut down on the miles they -- and you -- have to travel. As it turns out, with pretty minimal effort, anyone can be a gardener. My boyfriend and I are essentially first-timers this season and so far have the beginnings of strawberries peeking out, tomatoes are on their way, the basil's about ready for a big batch of pesto, and once the last frost hits, the peppers, kale, spinach, chard, and mesclun will be on their way, too. All on a tiiiny little terrace (with the help of a little DIY carpentry). If you're up to the challenge -- and it really isn't much of one -- growing your own food can be so rewarding. And so much cheaper! Here's a starter list of all the crazy things even urban gardeners, without space for a garden, can grow at home.Tree Fruits - Including Apples
