Modern Love: Promises That Can Bend Without Breaking Photo In December my wife and I moved out of our house into an independent-living apartment. Walking through the building, you might take it for a well-kept hotel, until you notice the handrails lining the hallways, the nursing assistants in the common areas and the people pushing walkers in front of them rather than pulling luggage carts behind them. The end of the year brought a stream of visitors. In the common dining room, with chairs and tables pushed out of the way, we have watched young ballet students dancing parts of “The Nutcracker.” I’m not sure I belong here. My wife, a year younger, is the reason we’re here. We’ve been married 28 years, most of them carefree, some even exciting. “What would you think of moving to Germany?” “Sure,” she said. Six weeks later we walked into a small apartment in Moosburg, a small town just outside Munich. The evening before my birthday one year, my wife met me in the Munich train station on my return from a business trip. “Nothing,” he said.

7 Long-Distance Relationship Tips Inspired By The Movie “Like Crazy” Are you starting to wonder if whoever coined the phrase “absence makes the heart grow fonder” was ever involved in a long-distance relationship? The truth is, when many miles separate you and your honey, keeping your connection strong is tough regardless of your fondness for each other. The couple is forced to try to maintain their relationship from a great distance when she is banned from the U.S. after overstaying her visa. How To Have Lucid Dreams Once they hear about it, almost everyone wants to know how to have lucid dreams. And who wouldn't? It's an awesomely exciting proposition to become conscious inside your dreamworld and take control... According to experts, lucid dreaming is a natural untapped ability that all of us possess. We just have to learn how to harness it. We ALL already dream every night (even if you don't remember) and we are all conscious human beings by day. Below I'll summarize some practical instructions on how to have lucid dreams, including my personal favorite lucid dream techniques. What Is Lucid Dreaming? Lucid dreaming is the ability to "wake up" in your dreams. Most noticeably, conscious dreams look and feel extremely vivid and tangible, on a par with waking life. Lucid dreams are NOT psychic premonitions, telepathy, shared dreams, vivid nightmares, sleep paralysis, ghostly bedroom experiences, or just really vivid dreams. How to Have Lucid Dreams Having frequent lucid dreams will become a way of life.

9 Signs That Your Relationship May Be Doomed When you’re in love, your heart feels like it's windsurfing, and everything is magical and tinted whatever color is the opposite of regret (beige?). But that whole love-blindness business that helps you fall in the first place also makes it really difficult to figure out when your relationship has taken a turn for the DUMP THEM NOW. With that in mind, we made you a list of red-flaggies to keep in mind as you wade through the relationship muck, wondering if you’re going to make it out alive or sink like a straight-to-DVD Olsen twins adventure. 1. We’re not going to get all prescriptive and tell you how much sex you should be having in your relationship, but we will say that if you are yelling a lot more than you’re getting it on, your relationship is off-kilter and you need to shift priorities and/or communication strategies ASAP. 2. Worse than the above scenario (in our opinion) is when you stop both fighting and having sex, aka your spark has been replaced with complacency and apathy.

How To Survive a Long Distance Relationship. | Smaggle Love is so inconvenient. I’d know. I fell in love with an 18-year-old when I was 22 and we’ve quite casually and completely accidentally been together for 6 whole years. Fuck knows how that happened, I was supposed to spend the last six years on boats in Greece getting lots of hairy cock and STDs but as fate would have it, here I am, living in domestic bliss with a man who still gives me tingles in my nether regions. Aside from our extraordinary ability to get diarrhoea at exactly the same time, I think our most impressive achievement to date is the survival of our two-year stint in a long distance relationship. Be a planner. Honestly, a long distance relationship is not going to last if one of you moves 800kms away from the other, neither of you have a car and you have to charter a private jet because airlines don’t fly to Why-The-Fuck-Did-I-Move-Here Airport. But be spontaneous. Be aware that the first three months are the hardest. If you are the one who’s leaving… Make the commitment.

Things For LDR Couples To Do Page 11 | Long Distance Relationship Activities 101. Share a virtual bulletin board This idea comes from one of our LFAD members, Tommybat: So my SO has bad days at work sometimes and I always have the urge to leave her a note for when she gets home letting her know how amazing she is and that the mean people at work can shove off. but I live all the way in NY and she lives in California. so, I got this idea where I would leave her a sticky note everyday or a few times a day here: Listhings.com It's this really cool website that lets you post sticky notes onto a personal board and then you share it with someone and they can see/ do it too My SO loved the idea and actually cried a little haha. :,) I cannot wait to watch it fill up and watch the notes overlap each other! Bringing Back Love Letters To Relationships Some people may assume, that love letters are the norm in long distance relationships. Not so! Since starting this site in 2008, I have come to realize more and more that love letters are a dying romance, if you will. With emails, instant messaging, and long distance calling plans, many people in LDRs think, "Why write a letter when I can just tell him/her what I want on the phone?" It's not what you say, it's the act of writing a letter that is romantic in itself. Based on my own personal experience, letters are more powerful than any email. They can make a person smile even before it is opened. I'm on a mission! Taking a few minutes to write a letter is a positive thing that you can do for your relationship. 5 Secrets Of Successful Long-Distance Relationships If given the choice, we’re pretty sure no one would pick to be in a long distance relationship. Some say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but we’re calling bullsh*t on that one: being apart from the person you love is hard. And to make it work - and keep it a healthy, functional and sexual, you have to put in time, commitment and well, get a little creative. The good news is you're not alone. Over 14 million couples define themselves as being in long-distance relationships. If you're a college student, the numbers are even higher: about a third of college relationships are long-distance relationships, and 70% of college students have been in a long-distance relationship at some point. The other good news is that some studies actually suggest that long-distance couples feel more love for each other than those that are geographically close, and even idealize their partners more. Here’s how to make sure you stay connected, regardless of how many miles or oceans separate you.

Love Letter Satchels - Store your greeting cards, letters, photos, postcards and more Being in a long distance relationship myself for 5+ years, I cherished everything Frank sent me in the mail: Love letters, photos, cards, etc... Up until recently I had been keeping these keepsakes in a small storage container. Pretty boring, and it wasn't suitable for things so special to me. One day I had the perfect idea... love letter satchels. That's what I call them anyway. So I pulled out the sewing machine and created my very own love letter satchel. The satchels are approximately 10" long and 7" wide - so they have plenty of room for long, full-sized envelopes, large cards, letters, pictures, even a small journal. I used to make love letter satchels and sold them here on LFAD (I made the ones in the slide show above). For $5.00 you can purchase my e-book on how to make your very own Love Letter Satchel.
