40 Must See Cool Short Animation Websites
Learn how to earn $125 or more per hour as a freelancer - Click Here Looking for hosting?. We recommend MediaTemple for web hosting. In our previous article State of The Art Professional Animators’ Site Graphics we presented 40 examples of the best animators’ site. We have all been to (or at least heard of) animated short film festivals. Precisely because of that, in order to take advantage of the popularity that these short films have gained, most of these animators have stated to look at using the web resources as well, for promoting their work and have built spectacular sites for each of these famous short animated films. Creating a short, catchy and funny film doesn’t seem to be sufficient any more – one must also create a web-site of equal graphic value, in order to promote it properly. As a bonus, you’ll also get to see the wonderful short animations displayed on these sites, most of which have received prestigious prizes in the field. Nathan Love Studio Alma by Rodrigo Blaas

Anatomía de la edición Here comes another tech bubble — in education I’m the kind of guy who worries when something gets too popular. I looked askance at novels (especially science fiction) that made it to mainstream bestseller lists when written by otherwise mediocre authors. I avoided buying any footwear or polo shirt that was named for, or sported images of, long-jawed fast-crawling reptiles. When anything rapidly accelerated in popularity with no clear tie to quality, I wondered how long it would take before that bandwagon crashed. I’m starting to ponder the same about technology in education. There are early warning signs that the hype could be outpacing the reality, reminiscent of the mindless headlong rush to the Pets.coms of a dozen years ago: Investment. Digital instructional content company Boundless summed up the last decade of venture investment in edtech in an infographic. Attention. Startup activity. Politics. So is this a case of an elitist sniffing and claiming a favorite restaurant has gotten too popular now that everyone comes to it? No.

Venture capital and education: a visual history of the past decade (infographic) Last month super-angel Dave McClure told me that one of his hottest areas of investment was education. McClure and 500 Startups are mostly investing in informal education, but all of education is ripe for disruption, as Codecademy, Khan Academy, and MIT OpenCourseware are teaching us. Boundless, the free educational content company, looked at the last 10 years of venture capital investment in education. Overall, it’s not a great track record, with education taking only three percent of VC investment in the past decade, even though the sector is 5.5 percent of the economy. And the total investment has only been $2.8 billion — less than half of what was invested in biotech in 2011 alone. But there is good news. 2012 will see five times more investments in education than 2002, and total investment dollars will likely hit almost $600 million, compared to $150 million in 2002 and only about $60 million in 2005. For all the information, here’s the infographic:

Pearson Project Will Let Professors Mix Free and Paid Content in E-Textbooks - Wired Campus Pearson, a major textbook publisher, continued its push into digital education on Monday by introducing a service that allows instructors to create e-textbooks using open-access content and Pearson material. A beta version called Project Blue Sky will begin in the spring with the help of Gooru, a nonprofit search engine. When an instructor enters keywords for the subject he or she is teaching, the system sends back a list of Pearson content, free educational content, and material from other commercial providers. The instructor can then pull together material from various sources into one e-book—two chapters from a published textbook, three videos from MIT’s OpenCourseWare, and a research study from Harvard University, for example. “Both Pearson and a number of leaders in the open-educational-resource community have recognized opportunities for both premium content and free open content,” said Clancy Marshall, the leader of the project.
