How to Use Google as a Proxy Server

How to Use Google as a Proxy Server
You can use various Google services as proxies to access web pages, documents and other files that are other blocked at your workplace. If you have trouble accessing a web page either because the website is blocked at your workplace, or because that page happens to be behind a paywall, there are a couple of undocumented Google proxy servers that may help you read that page. When you access any page via one of these Google proxies, the content of that page gets downloaded on Google servers and then served to you. The lesser-known gmodules.com proxy, discussed later, will even allow you to download documents, videos and other web files that are otherwise blocked. 1. To use Google Translate as a proxy, set the destination language as the actual language of the page and the source language as anything but the destination language. 2. Next in the list is Google’s Mobilizer service. 3. Related:  outils webTo Be Sorted 3

How to Reduce Data Usage When Browsing the Web on a Smartphone When you don’t have unlimited mobile data on your Android or iPhone, every megabyte counts. Mobile browsers like Google Chrome and Opera offer a built in data compression feature, allowing you to browse with less data. There are only a few small trade-offs here. If you want to use less data, enabling this feature will allow you to browse all the same websites with little noticeable difference. How Does This Work? When you load a web page on your phone, your browser connects directly to the website’s web server, which sends you the web page you asked for just as if you were browsing on Wi-Fi. Enable the Data Compression feature in Chrome or Off-Road mode feature in Opera — this was formerly known as the Opera Turbo feature — and things will happen differently. Images are also transcoded so they’re smaller and only as detailed as they need to be — your phone probably doesn’t need the same high-resolution web images you would need on a full PC if you’re hurting for bandwidth.

21 Inc’s Bitcoin Vision Becomes Clearer With Announcement of Ping21 21 Inc has announced the launch of ping21, a service that allows users to check the uptime or latency of any given website from Bitcoin Computers on the 21 network. This is the first release in a series of projects related to the Internet of Things that the company plans to release in the coming weeks. How Does It Work? Thanks to the release of its Bitcoin Computer last year, 21 has created a decentralized network of machines that are financially connected to each other via Bitcoin. Ping21 essentially takes advantage of 21's network of devices to process various requests in exchange for Bitcoin. This first service offered by the network allows web developers to see whether a specific device or server is online or experiencing connectivity issues. Ping21 also takes advantage of 21's micropayments marketplace , which means the relatively high fees (at least in this context) associated with on-chain Bitcoin transactions will be avoided. Why is Ping21 Useful? Creating the Machine Economy

4 Hidden Window Management Tricks on the Windows Desktop Windows has quite a few features for automatically arranging windows, placing them side by side or tiling them on your screen. These features are a bit hidden, so you may not have noticed them. We used Windows 7 here, but all of these tricks also work on Windows 8 or 10 except the ones that require the Task Manager. Many of the tricks also work with earlier versions of Windows. Aero Snap for Side-by-Side Windows Aero Snap is extremely useful. The Snap feature makes a window take up half of your screen, making it easy to arrange two windows side by side without manually resizing and moving them around. You can also click a window title bar, hold down the mouse button, and drag the window’s title bar to the left or right edge of the screen. Maximizing, Restoring, and Minimizing Windows You can maximize a window by dragging and dropping its title bar, too. Your Brain’s Music Circuit Has Been Discovered Before Josh McDermott was a neuroscientist, he was a club DJ in Boston and Minneapolis. He saw first-hand how music could unite people in sound, rhythm, and emotion. “One of the reasons it was so fun to DJ is that, by playing different pieces of music, you can transform the vibe in a roomful of people,” he says. With his club days behind him, McDermott now ventures into the effects of sound and music in his lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is an assistant professor in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences. In 2015, he and a post-doctoral colleague, Sam Norman-Haignere, and Nancy Kanwisher, a professor of cognitive neuroscience at MIT, made news by locating a neural pathway activated by music and music alone. McDermott and his colleagues played a total of 165 commonly heard natural sounds to ten subjects willing to be rolled into an fMRI machine to listen to the piped-in sounds. The MIT team adopted a new technique to break down the fMRI data.
