Aluna: World's First Tidal Powered Moon Clock Exploring Linear Perspective Linear perspective is a mathematical system for creating the illusion of space and distance on a flat surface. The system originated in Florence, Italy in the early 1400s. The artist and architect Brunelleschi demonstrated its principles, but another architect and writer, Leon Battista Alberti was first to write down rules of linear perspective for artists to follow. Leonardo da Vinci probably learned Alberti's system while serving as an apprentice to the artist Verrocchio in Florence. To use linear perspective an artist must first imagine the picture surface as an "open window" through which to see the painted world. The horizon line runs across the canvas at the eye level of the viewer. The vanishing point should be located near the center of the horizon line. Orthogonal lines are "visual rays" helping the viewer's eye to connect points around the edges of the canvas to the vanishing point. Click on the buttons to check your answers.

Color Consumption - RockPaperInk.com June 14, 2012 Authors: Jake Lefebure, Pum Lefebure In the new world of motion graphics, the oldest design rule still applies: less is more. With a combination of animation, sound and time, controlling the visual design of a piece could be the difference between giving your viewers an energetic and memorable experience or overload them into a rainbow-induced seizure. For a portfolio or demo reel, color can influence the order of projects as much as the type of work made or the client represented. The actual fuel cell stack is the layered cube shape in the center of the image Scheme of a proton-conducting fuel cell The first fuel cells were invented in 1838. There are many types of fuel cells, but they all consist of an anode, a cathode and an electrolyte that allows charges to move between the two sides of the fuel cell. The fuel cell market is growing, and Pike Research has estimated that the stationary fuel cell market will reach 50 GW by 2020.[3] History[edit] Sketch of William Grove's 1839 fuel cell The first references to hydrogen fuel cells appeared in 1838. In 1939, British engineer Francis Thomas Bacon successfully developed a 5 kW stationary fuel cell. Types of fuel cells; design[edit] Fuel cells come in many varieties; however, they all work in the same general manner. At the anode a catalyst oxidizes the fuel, usually hydrogen, turning the fuel into a positively charged ion and a negatively charged electron. SOFC[edit]
