A chimp-pig hybrid origin for humans?

A chimp-pig hybrid origin for humans?
(Phys.org) —These days, getting a Ph.D. is probably the last thing you want to do if you are out to revolutionize the world. If, however, what you propose is an idea, rather than a technology, it can still be a valuable asset to have. Dr. Eugene McCarthy is a Ph.D. geneticist who has made a career out of studying hybridization in animals. He now curates a biological information website called Macroevolution.net where he has amassed an impressive body of evidence suggesting that human origins can be best explained by hybridization between pigs and chimpanzees. Extraordinary theories require extraordinary evidence and McCarthy does not disappoint. Generally speaking, interspecies hybrids—like mules, ligers (lion-tiger hybrids), or zedonks (zebra-donkey hybrids)—are less fertile than the parents that produced them. It is not yet clear if or when genetic data might support, or refute, our hybrid origins. A New Programming Language That Can Shape Our DNA Scientists have studied the behavior of complex biological molecules such as DNA for decades. Now they are moving to being able to control that behavior in test tubes and inside cells. Last month, a team led at the University of Washington announced they had devised and successfully tested a programming language that can guide the assembly of synthetic DNA molecules into a circuit that can perform a task, just as a software developer would write code to send commands to a computer. Chemists have always used mathematical models to study how molecules behave in mixtures. While there’s no killer app anywhere near ready yet, possible future uses for being able to design and assemble DNA to perform a specified function are wide-ranging. In a paper published in Nature Nanotechnology, the researchers describe a basic experiment they used to test their theoretical work. A lot of work remains, but the broader field of synthetic biology is growing.

Men All Have One Common Ancestor In work made public today in the journal Science, the team of prominent biologists corroborates the idea that modern humanity originated around 200,000 to 300,000 years ago, rather than a million years earlier, as other experts have theorized.“It suggests we really are an extremely recent species on this planet,” said Yale University biologist Robert L. Dorit, who led the group. “We are definitely rookies . . . noisy, but new.”The new research also provides additional evidence that modern humans–despite their apparent racial and ethnic differences–all share the same basic genetic makeup. In one section of the chromosome that makes a person male, men around the world are virtually identical, the scientists discovered. For their analysis, they sequenced a portion of the male sex chromosome that apparently changes quite slowly over the eons. 'Humans evolved after a female chimpanzee mated with a pig': Extraordinary claim made by American geneticist Dr Eugene McCarthy points to features that distinguish us from primatesHe says that the only animals which also have these features are pigsControversial hypothesis has been met by significant opposition By Damien Gayle Published: 09:45 GMT, 30 November 2013 | Updated: 10:16 GMT, 5 December 2013 The human species began as the hybrid offspring of a male pig and a female chimpanzee, an American geneticist has suggested. The startling claim has been made by Eugene McCarthy, who is also one of the world's leading authorities on hybridisation in animals. He points out that while humans have many features in common with chimps, we also have a large number of distinguishing characteristics not found in any other primates. The origin of the species? Dr McCarthy says these divergent characteristics are most likely the result of a hybrid origin at some point far back in human evolutionary history. 'What is this other animal that has all these traits?'

Scientist Proves DNA Can Be Reprogrammed by Words and Frequencies © Adam Scott Miller We came across this article today and thought that it would be a great read for our viewers. It’s awesome information showing the true nature of our reality and how science is changing everyday, opening up to the possibilities of this reality. “Scientist Prove DNA Can Be Reprogrammed by Words and Frequencies By Grazyna Fosar and Franz Bludorf THE HUMAN DNA IS A BIOLOGICAL INTERNET and superior in many aspects to the artificial one. Only 10% of our DNA is being used for building proteins. The Russian biophysicist and molecular biologist Pjotr Garjajev and his colleagues also explored the vibrational behavior of the DNA. One can simply use words and sentences of the human language! This finally and scientifically explains why affirmations, autogenous training, hypnosis and the like can have such strong effects on humans and their bodies. Garjajev’s research group succeeded in proving that with this method chromosomes damaged by x-rays for example can be repaired.

Genetic Study Says All Men Have a Common Ancestor : Origins: First tracing of male chromosome backs theory that humans originated in Africa, relatively recently. Moving closer in the search for human roots, three scientists today offered new genetic evidence that all men are descended from a common ancestor who lived about 270,000 years ago, lending some support to the theory that modern humanity evolved in Africa a relatively short time ago. For the first time, researchers at Yale, Harvard and the University of Chicago have traced the genetic roots of the human family through the male line, by analyzing the Y chromosome that makes an embryo become male. Until now, the effort to reconstruct the history of human heredity has concentrated on the genes that mothers alone pass along to their children. In work made public today in the journal Science, the team of prominent biologists corroborates the idea that modern humanity originated around 200,000 to 300,000 years ago, rather than a million years earlier, as other experts have theorized.

Georgia geneticist challenges evolution, links humans to pigs - SaportaReport By Ben Smith Our ancestor may have looked like this. To Athens geneticist Gene McCarthy, pigs used to conjure filth and greed. But after years of research into this species, McCarthy sees a kindred spirit. As radical as it sounds—not to mention a coupling that many of us would rather not visualize—McCarthy is also following the steps of scientists like Galileo who risked derision to revolutionize how we understand our world and how we got here. “I tell you what, my body makes a lot more sense to me now,” quipped talk show host Jimmy Kimmel before introducing the sketch. This is no joke, however. Chimpanzees are the closest evolutionary link to humans, scientists believe. “Extraordinary theories require extraordinary evidence and McCarthy does not disappoint,” wrote Hewitt. Like Tarzan Save Gene McCarthy of Athens with his twins Margaret and Clara Science currently supposes the chimpanzee to be our closest living relative. McCarthy’s been working on this theory for decades. Save Save

How chimps are making monkeys out of humans… | Science | The Observer Tetsuro Matsuzawa begins his working day, conventionally enough, in front of a computer. He taps in a few commands, takes a seat and waits. Within minutes, the calm of his basement laboratory is pierced by the sound of excitable primates. On cue, two chimpanzees appear through an opening in the ceiling, flash a look of recognition at Matsuzawa, and then aim an inquisitive stare at his unfamiliar companion from the Observer. Matsuzawa feeds them a spoonful of honey each and wipes their hands and fingers – a near-daily ritual meant to reward them for arriving on time, and to encourage them to show up again the following morning. After all, Ai, a 36-year-old chimpanzee, and her 13-year-old son, Ayumu, are free to stay in their nearby home, a re-creation of a west African rainforest they share with 12 other chimps. The strength of Ayumu's cognitive functions surprised even Matsuzawa, who has studied the mental dexterity of chimps for 36 years. The results stunned observers. Alex the parrot

Why Human Evolution Happened Only Once: The Question No One Has to Answer Last time out, I asked, why, if information about chimpanzee behavior is supposed to provide insight into human behavior, nothing similar to human evolution ever happened to chimpanzees. This fact deserves more attention than it gets: It is a giant explanatory gap. Not only did chimpanzees not put a man on the moon, they would never have imagined it as a goal. So when we look at explanations for human cultural evolution, we find unfortunately the same problems as we did with physical evolution, like bipedalism and throwing projectiles accurately. And we get only trivial explanations. We are told that but for fresh pastures, "we would never have loosened up enough to learn to speak" (like cows do?). Somehow, none of this (assuming it happened) ever had the same effect for any other species. It is the question no one answers because it has been set up as the question no one has to answer, even though it is the key question. Yet still a signal floats above the noise.

But the higher developed an individual’s consciousness is, the less need is there for any type of device! And because of this similarity of waves they are able to react to our thoughts.
