How to Create a Color Palette for Your Website A color palette is the set of colors used in the design and creation of the website. These colors should be chosen carefully because they will not only determine the overall look of your site, but they will help define your brand as well. Most color palettes consist of between two and four colors, not including basic colors such as black and white. If you already have a logo or corporate design, then you may already have a good idea of the colors you wish to include in your website. First, choose a primary color. A good resource to use when choosing a color is Jason Beaird’s book The Principles of Beautiful Web Design. Websites built using HTML and CSS use a relatively limited set of colors that are known as browser-safe colors, meaning they render the same across all browsers. Traditional designers often use a color-wheel – a tool designed to help you select color schemes visually. Let’s take a look at examples of the most common color schemes.

The original photo is a little bit warm, so first we’ll add a Photo Filter adjustment layer set to Cooling filter (80) with a Density of 60%. Next we”ll bring the saturation way down. The last Adjustment Layer we’ll add is a Curves layer. Add two points to the chart, one at the dark side, one at the light side. Next we’ll slowly start to bring back some colour. Click on the Hue/Saturation layer’s layer mask. Take a large black brush with it’s Hardness at 10% and it’s Opacity at 5%. Then paint over the model again, but this time leaving out the hair. Next paint over the area around each eye. Now reduce the size of the brush and paint inside each eye and around the edges. And then paint over the lips, not quite up to the edge. Decrease the size of the brush again, and bring the Opacity up to 30%. With the brush set to 50% Opacity, paint over the necklace. Take a small black brush set to Overlay.

Create Your Own Custom Brushes in Photoshop Brushes are one of the fundamental features in Photoshop. With brushes, you can blend masks, create effects, add textures, and create lighting. There are thousands of brushes available online that you can download for your projects, but sometimes it can take hours to find the right brushes to get the specific look that you want. It can save you a lot of time if you just create your own brushes. You can use literally anything to create a custom brush. Keep in mind that if you are going to create custom brushes, it’s a good idea to use large or high resolution images. Step 1: Find the Image For this example, I found a cloud image to use. Step 2: Eliminate Color Information Go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate to turn your image into a grayscale image. Step 3: Invert Your Image When you are defining a brush, anything that is pure white won’t be included, and anything black or gray will show up as part of your brush. Step 4: Increase Contrast Step 5: Make Your Background Pure White

But they are so easy to make with Photoshop! The blue circle above shows how the iris is round. Also, notice how much of the iris is hidden by the eyelid. Well, these illustrations just get creepier and creepier! Using Photoshop, I took the blue circle and had Photoshop "contract" the size of the blue circle until it was the size of the pupil. A common newbie mistake is to just draw the pupil in there, but not worry if it is centered. I am sorry, I just had to emphasize that.
