Free Pattern: One Row Lace Scarf

Free Pattern: One Row Lace Scarf
Here is the pattern for my One Row (reversible) Lace Scarf: This pattern makes a beautiful reversible lace scarf that can be knitted in all kinds of different yarns. An opportunity to use that fingering weight wool, soft alpaca, perhaps some of your sock yarn, sport weight yarn or worsted weight, I've even used a fuzzy yarn (Pep) for this scarf. Materials: I used 45 g (~175 yards) of a superfine alpaca yarn. Needles: 6 mm (US 10). Use bigger needles than the yarn usually calls for. Gauge (not important): 8 sts = 5 cm (2 inches) in pattern. Skill level: Easy(/Intermediate) Note: This will make an (unblocked) width of about 13 cm (about 5 inches). Knit 2 rows Knit pattern row: K4, (YO, K2tog, K2) repeat between ( ) 5 times. Repeat the pattern row until your scarf is at desired length. Knit 1 row. Cast off loosely. Finishing: Weave in ends.Block if you want to. Related:  Scarfs

Crochet Ribbed Scarf. It’s like knitting, only better! « JennOzkan December 1, 2010 by admin Knitted scarves are beautifully and soft, but they take FOREVER to make (to a crocheter anyway) Crochet scarves are often kinda ugly and kinda stiff; crochet is more dense than knitting, and doesnt have the nice soft drape. That is, Until now! There were a few stitches that fit one or two of those categories; there is a single crochet ribbing technique that has a nice look and feel, but single crocheting an entire scarf takes awhile. What I finally settled on is this beautiful variation of a half double crochet stitch. What this half double crochet variation does is allow the top of the crochet stitch, which looks like a line of knitting, to appear on the work: Normally the top of the stitch is covered up by the next row of stitches, but half double crochet creates an extra loop which will be used instead of the top of the stitch, so the top of the stitch can become a pretty ribbing. Here’s how it’s done: 1. 2. Some pictures to help: What pretty crochet ribbing

Reversible Cabled Brioche Stitch Scarf | FireFlower Knits Reversible Cabled Brioche Stitch Scarf Originally uploaded by fireflowerknits This is something I came up with from a passion for reversible scarves and a copy of Gisela Klopper’s Beautiful Knitting Patterns. It is a super-thick, soft, cushy scarf. Reversible Cabled Brioche Stitch Scarf Finished Dimensions: 5″ x 56″ (5 skeins would allow you to knit a 70″ long scarf) 4 skeins Knit Picks Andean Silk Hollyberry or about 360 yards of a soft worsted weight yarn size 7 needles cable needle This is an intermediate pattern. Edited to add: Slip all stitches purlwise with yarn held in front throughout. When cabling on row 11 and 23, 2 of the 6 stitches you slip onto the cable needle will be yarn-overs from the previous row. Special Abbreviation: Brioche Cable 12 Front is abbreviated BrC 12F, it means: sl 6 sts to cable ndl and hold to front, (sl 1, yo, k2 tog) 2 times, sl sts from cable ndl back to left ndl, (sl 1, yo, k2 tog) 2 times. Men’s Mini Herringbone Scarf I have accumulated quite a bit of neckwear over the years. Some bright, some bulky, some sleek, lots ecru, but hands-down, what earns me the most compliments is my Big Herringbone Cowl, scooped off these pages of the Purl Bee! It is undeniably wonderful. My scarf counterpart to Whitney’s cowl showcases a mini-herringbone pattern, bordered by slip stitch rib edges. Materials 2 skeins of Swan’s Island’s Worsted. Gauge 7 1/2 stitches = 1 inch in stitch pattern Size 7 1/2 inches wide by 62 inches long Notes All slipped stitches are to be slipped purl-wise. The Mini Herringbone Stitch is always worked over an odd number of stitches. Mini Herringbone Stitch Wrong Side (WS): * P2tog and leave stitches on needle, purl the first stitch again and drop both stitches together from left-hand needle, repeat from * to last stitch, p1. Pattern Cast on 55 stitches. Row 1 (wrong side): Slip 1 wyif (with yarn in front), p1, k1, work in Mini Herringbone to last 3 stitches, k1, p2 Bind off in pattern with RS facing.
