The Good Drug Guide : new mood-brighteners and antidepressants

Phanerothyme' Psychedelic Information Center Cambridge, Mass. All rights reserved. Used by the Council on Spiritual Practices with permission of the author. This essay has been difficult to write. It is very hard to talk about religious matters. The latter temptation has been made weaker in my case by the fact that I do not recognize my own experience in very much of what has been written. I make no contention that my experience is the only or the typical form of response to these drugs. Perhaps the use of a booklet like this is not that it will be believed or agreed with at the first reading but that it will function as a reminder of an alternative approach when some of the current approaches prove unrewarding. The ideas expressed in this pamphlet have developed out of some dozen phanerothymic sessions over the past five years. I believe that they can be confirmed by others, with the help of the guide lines set down in my manual, Session Games People Play [1]. What is psychedelic?

MDMA / Ecstasy : Utopian Pharmacology Methamphetamine Methamphetamine[note 1] (pronunciation: /ˌmɛθæmˈfɛtəmiːn/; contracted from N-methyl-alpha-methylphenethylamine) is a neurotoxin and potent psychostimulant of the phenethylamine and amphetamine classes that is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and obesity. Methamphetamine exists as two enantiomers, dextrorotary and levorotary.[note 2] Dextromethamphetamine is a stronger central nervous system (CNS) stimulant than levomethamphetamine; however, both are addictive and produce the same toxicity symptoms at high doses. Although rarely prescribed due to the potential risks, methamphetamine hydrochloride is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) under the trade name Desoxyn. Methamphetamine may be sold illegally, either as pure dextromethamphetamine or in an equal parts mixture of the right and left handed molecules (i.e., 50% levomethamphetamine and 50% dextromethamphetamine). Home Page 12 Rude Revelations About Sex In order to transcend the discomfort that sex typically stirs, you may need to radically rethink desire, marriage, fidelity, and much more. Sex, we have been led to believe, is as natural as breathing. But in fact, contends British philosopher Alain de Botton, it is "close to rocket science in complexity." It's not only a powerful force, it's often contrary to many other things we care about. There's no denying that sex has its sweaty charms, and in its most exquisite moments dissolves the isolation that embodied life imposes on us. If we turn to sex books to help us work out this central experience of our lives, we are typically assured that most problems are mechanical, a matter of method. Why do most people lie about their true desires? It is rare to go through life without feeling that we are somehow a bit odd about sex. Most of what we are sexually remains impossible to communicate with anyone whom we would want to think well of us. How is sex a great lie detector?

The Creative Process and Entheogens by Alex Grey The Creative Process and Entheogens by Alex Grey adapted from The Mission of Art PDF version of this document Twenty-five years ago I took my first dose of LSD. The experience was so rich and profound, coupled as it was with the meeting of my future wife, Allyson, that there seemed nothing more important than this revelation of infinite love and unity. Being an artist, I felt that this was the only subject worthy of my time and attention. Spiritual and visionary consciousness assumed primary importance as the focal point of my life and art. Due to its visionary richness, I think the entheogenic experience has great importance for fueling an artistic and cultural renaissance. Oscar Janiger's studies of LSD and creativity showed that many artists felt the work done while tripping or post-tripping was more inventive and inspired work than their previous work. "How can we bring the insights of the entheogenic state into our lives?" First Effects: 1). Transpersonal Stages: 4). Notes: 1.

The God Chemical: Brain Chemistry And Mysticism Hardcore Hedonism In The Third Millennium History of LSD The psychedelic drug (or entheogen) lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) was first synthesized on November 16, 1938 by the Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann in the Sandoz (now Novartis) laboratories in Basel, Switzerland.[1] It was not until five years later on April 19, 1943, that the psychedelic properties were found.[2] Discovery[edit] Albert Hofmann, born in Cyprus, joined the pharmaceutical-chemical department of Sandoz Laboratories, located in Basel as a co-worker with professor Arthur Stoll, founder and director of the pharmaceutical department.[3] He began studying the medicinal plant squill and the fungus ergot as part of a program to purify and synthesize active constituents for use as pharmaceuticals. ... affected by a remarkable restlessness, combined with a slight dizziness. At home I lay down and sank into a not unpleasant intoxicated-like condition, characterized by an extremely stimulated imagination. Entheogens in the Vajrayana Tradition Warning: datura is an extremely powerful and dangerous hallucinogen. In addition to the dangers inherent in severe hallucinosis, the plant is quite toxic. There have been reports of coma and death resulting from this toxicity. The broad definition of entheogen used here is: "plants or substances capable of producing visionary experiences which are used for magico-religious or psychospiritual purposes." The use of entheogens in the Vajrayana tradition has been documented by such scholars as Ronald M Davidson, William George Stablein, Bulcsu Siklos, David B. This investigation has focused primarily on the use of entheogens in the anuttara-yoga-tantra materials especially (but not exclusively) the Yogini-tantras. The findings that have the most immediately obvious significance are the numerous references to pills, siddhi-drugs, and rasayana elixirs that contain either datura or cannabis. The importance of ointments and homa-rituals making use of datura is not as readily apparent. David B.

Using Silk Road Please enable JavaScript for math equation rendering. The cypherpunk movement laid the ideological roots of Bitcoin and the online drug market Silk Road; balancing previous emphasis on cryptography, I emphasize the non-cryptographic market aspects of Silk Road which is rooted in cypherpunk economic reasoning, and give a fully detailed account of how a buyer might use market information to rationally buy, and finish by discussing strengths and weaknesses of Silk Road, and what future developments are predicted by cypherpunk ideas. The website Silk Road (SR), a drug marketplace operating in public, needs little introduction at this point, after Gawker’s 2011 article went viral, drawing fire from the likes of US federal Senators Schumer & Manchin. It was probably the single most famous commercial enterprise using Bitcoins; some speculated that demand from SR patrons single-handedly pushed the exchange rate up by $5 the weekend of the Gawker article. Entheologues: Conversations with Leading Psychedelic Thinkers, Explorers and Researchers Soma among the Armenians, Ethnobotany, Anthropology, Armenian Mythology, Vahagn, Mithra, Mushrooms, Amanita, Iranian Mythology by Robert Bedrosian Download in zip format soma.zip; pdf format soma.pdf Footnotes Page opens in separate window. [1] Soma was a god, a plant, and an intoxicating beverage. During the past two hundred years, scholars have tried with varying degrees of success to identify this mysterious plant which was at the base of early Indo-Iranian worship. In Soma Divine Mushroom of Immortality (1968), Wasson argued that the intoxicating plant called soma in the Rig Veda should be identified with the red-capped psychoactive mushroom, Amanita muscaria. In nature, this mushroom begins fruiting as a white "egg" enclosed in the membranous material of the universal veil; the stalk pushes up as it grows, and the distinctive orange-to-red cap appears from behind the veil. [2] In the Vedas, soma was also an intoxicating liquid, pounded or pressed out of the plant using special pressing stones (RV IX.11.5-6; IX.109.17-18), filtered through wool, and presumably mixed with other ingredients.
