Recycled Craft: Custom Portable Art Case I have a couple of budding artists in my house, and it seems like we have projects and materials spread all over the house. I consider this a good thing- but I still wanted to contain the supplies a bit, and in a fun way. I made this custom art suitcase out of a thrifted book. Paper beads By Kate on October 30, 2010 I made these paper beads a while ago and dug them out the other day for my eldest son to play with. At three and a half he’s grown out of playing with his chunky threading beads – so these were the perfect replacement. They are so easy to make and surprisingly sturdy. I used some sheets of origami paper to make mine but you can use any kind of paper.

Anthro Knock Off Vintage Lace Bracelet The prettiness from Monday and yesterday continues today with a little anthro-inspired bracelet tutorial. In a word, lovely. The lace-and-pearls embroidered on vintage lace is just loveliness. The idea came from Anthropologie (shocker, right?). Autumn Flower Wreath Today I have a tutorial of sorts to share. It is not a full tutorial because 1. I learned to make the flowers from an already pretty amazing tutorial and 2. I left my camera in Ryan’s truck and was too impatient to wait to put it together until he came home so I don’t have photos of the actual attaching to the wreath phase of the project. Sometimes you just have to go with it when the crafting bug gets you. This wreath is a combination of a regular grape vine wreath you can purchase at the craft store, lots of coffee filter flowers and a few acorn and berry sprigs.

To celebrate, we’re revisiting the very first tutorial we ever featured on the site: shibori tie dye. Lauren and I first discovered shibori after discovering an old photo on the web. The idea of recreating an ancient Japanese dyeing technique inspired us to spend an entire weekend experimenting with our favorite deep blue, indigo.
