Dollar Store Crafts: Homemade Fruit Snacks from 100% juice ***Note: I've updated the recipe for homemade fruit snacks. It now uses juice concentrate instead of juice, and less gelatin. The point of this recipe is for fruit snacks made from 100% juice, and for a fun activity for kids. If you want to make snacks from fruit puree, consider making homemade fruit roll-ups. Remember this thread about whether or not fruit snacks are a healthy snack? You know what else kids love? I started with a homemade fruit snack recipe I tried a while ago using Jell-o. Juice. Gelatin. Molds. 100% Juice Fruit Snacks Recipe 1/3 c. 100% frozen fruit juice concentrate 2-3 .25 oz envelopes unflavored gelatin (use 2 for softer fruit snacks, and 3 for firmer ones) molds Pour the juice into a small saucepan. Jell-o Fruit Snacks Recipe 1 3 oz package gelatin, any flavor 2 .25 oz envelopes unflavored gelatin 1/3 c. water Sprinkle the gelatin over the water in a small saucepan.

Whats on the menu? With approximately 45,000 menus dating from the 1840s to the present, The New York Public Library’s restaurant menu collection is one of the largest in the world, used by historians, chefs, novelists and everyday food enthusiasts. Trouble is, the menus are very difficult to search for the greatest treasures they contain: specific information about dishes, prices, the organization of meals, and all the stories these things tell us about the history of food and culture. To solve this, we’re working to improve the collection by transcribing the menus, dish by dish. Questions? The New York Public Library’s menu collection, housed in the Rare Book Division, originated through the energetic efforts of Miss Frank E. The Rare Books Division of The New York Public Library houses approximately 200,000 titles, covering five centuries of printing—from the 1450s to the present—and representing Continental Europe, England, and the Americas. What are the goals for this project? Why transcribe? Yes!

Poor Man's Feast — It's the Life: Passion Fruit & Lemon Tea Have you had the passion tea lemonade at Starbucks? It's fantastic. Really fantastic. I searched on-line for passion tea and found that this Tazo tea is used and sold by Starbucks! I bought a couple boxes at my local grocery store for $3.49/box. I thought I'd give it a try on my own. Each box of tea comes with 20 tea bags. Once your water boils, pour it over your tea bags. Once it is finished steeping, use one spoon to scoop out one bag at a time. Since the water is still hot, I use a second spoon to squeeze out more flavor from each bag before I toss them. It's such a nice color, and it smells delicious! While you wait, make yourself a nice sandwich. In order to get the right measurements, I used a starbucks cup. When you buy this drink at the store, they pump their "classic syrup" into the drink. This next part isn't necessary, but they do it at the store and it makes you feel fancy. Pour your tea mixture over your ice. Put the lid on and shake it like crazy! Foamy deliciousness!
