spot varnish You can do it as a composite Just put the varnishes on separate layers to start with (so you can easily hide them when not needed) Make sure they are the upper most layers Make sure they are spot colours "DULL VARNISH" and "SPOT VARNISH" for their names Make sure the objects are all set to OVERPRINT (window>attributes) DO NOT use any tints of the Spot Colour - 100% is best *EDIT* Make suer your Ink Manager is NOT set to "Convert all Spot Colours to Process" as this would cause the Spot Varnish colours you've created to be converted to Process and that would be messy Because you've put the varnishes on separate layers, you can turn off the other layers when making the PDF or You can leave them all on and they will get a composite of the design, with the spot colours overlayed - which print on separate plates and the OVERPRINT ensures that your artwork beneath is maintained. The other way you could do it is to add pages to your document. Then remove any elements that will not be varnished.
