Growth Mindset: Personal Accountability and Reflection I am an adjunct faculty for several teacher education and educational technology programs. I have been so for a few decades. During that time I have noticed the changing nature of student behaviors and expectations regarding their class projects and assignments. I have been studying, blogging and presenting about the growth mindset (see The Educator with a Growth Mindset: A Staff Workshop). Mediocre is often good enough for me as long as I get the work done.I expect my teachers to give me full credit for completion and submission of my work. In response to these experiences, I developed a Personal Accountability and Reflection series of questions. Did I work as hard as I could have? Like this: Like Loading...

The Institute for Personalized Learning | Meeting learners where they are, with what they need, when they need it.

The Anytime, Anywhere Learning Foundation The 21 Steps to 21st Century Learning framework is a guide for schools and school districts as they envision, plan, implement, evaluate and expand 1:1 learning in their schools. It has been more than two decades since the first 1:1 initiative began. In that time, thousands of schools and millions of students have been involved in 1:1 pilots or full-scale implementations. Much has been written about the benefits of 1:1 and its potential to create a revolution in when, where, what, and how students learn. But to create a true learning revolution we must do more than just provide all students with their own personal computers. We must explore ways in which 1:1 makes it possible to profoundly impact the learning opportunities for young people. A 1:1 initiative can help lay the foundation on which new learning dynamics can be built. THE 21 STEPS TO 21st CENTURY LEARNING PHASES The 21 Steps to 21st Century Learning are divided into two main phases. Part 2: Implementation (Steps 12-21)

The 6 C`s of Education for the 21st Century - Infogram, charts & infographics The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn. CRITICAL THINKING allows the individual to manage information. Information presented in a multitude of forms from a variety of media. Information that must be filtered and analyzed, authenticated and processed, and eventually must be synthesized in a form that will be useful to the individual. CRITICAL THINKING is PROBLEM SOLVING, the ability to take information and put it to use to create solutions. COMMUNICATION provides the means by which the individual can present information. COLLABORATION engages the individual in the world they share through association. CREATIVITY provides the avenue for expression. CULTURE encourages the individual to appreciate where we have come from, who we are now and how we can move into the future. CONNECTIVITY places the individual in touch with their world. "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."

How Teachers Learn While some maintain that reluctance to use new technologies is simply rooted in a lack of skill and confidence, there is evidence from Becker and Fullan that teachers need to be recruited. They must be convinced of the value of the new activities and then given ample time to work on teams to invent effective lessons. In many schools, teachers are isolated from each other and preoccupied with what Fullan calls "the daily press" of getting through their schedule, focused according to Becker on state standards. Quite a few of these teachers are likely to cling to routines they have enjoyed in the past until they are equipped and encouraged to find, invent and test new routines that are suitable and reliable replacements. This creative exploration, invention and testing will require a change in schools that breaks down isolation, facilitates the work of teams and provides ample time for program development. Effective Strategies and Projects Orchestration Resource Issues But it need not be so.
