They're not as short as Hemingway's famous six-word story (For sale: baby shoes, never worn.), but they're manageable even for reluctant readers. Most are under 2,000 words; I've included an approximate word count where I could. These stories offer a complete reading experience with great economy of words. Reading a few could be just what someone needs to get motivated to read a regular-length one. Looking for Short Stories on a Particular Subject or Theme?

Six Amazing Websites that Make Your Writing Stronger Long writing activities are not very frequently done in class. I tend to think that my students are like me; I need the right kind of atmosphere. Writing requires time, silence and lots of inspiration. Ideally, at this time of the year, I would probably wish to be sitting next to a fireplace with the most perfect instagrammable snow falling outside my window while drinking a nice cup of coffee waiting for inspiration to strike. While bibliophile George Arents (1875-1960) did not collect cigarette cards, he provided an endowment for the continued growth of his comprehensive collection on tobacco (whose processing and packaging had provided his fortune), which he had begun donating to NYPL in 1944. In addition to literature and artworks, the tobacco collection's scope has come to encompass a wide range of visual materials and printed ephemera associated with that commodity. Word Bank 2.1 – Vocabulary Lists in Excel I was thrilled by the amount of people that had found it useful. However, towards the end of 2014 I had selfishly redesigned the Word Bank for my own personal language studies because I was going back into the classroom as a student to learn more Japanese. I wanted new features that would help keep a track of my learning. This was going to be version 2.0 of the Word Bank. I wanted to keep a list of words I had learned, words I was still learning and words I hadn’t learned yet.I wanted the search card to be able to look at multiple lists. And I wanted to know approximately how many words I had learned compared to words I still had to study.
