Tutorials For the Home Kid’s Clothing For Kids and Babies Holidays: Accessories: Women’s Clothing: Parties: Downloads and Printables: Miscellaneous: decor tea towel pillow on the left, napkin pillow on the right. In the tradition of the Anthro placemat pillows, here are two more methods to create home decor from table linens. This is a much more affordable option for me than actually buying the pillows. I drool buckets over most everything in Anthropologie's home decor section but can't get past the price tag, even with the devil on my shoulder. I really have to give credit for this way of thinking to my bosom friend Robyn, who was the one who showed me years ago how to repurpose placemats into pillows and to use tablecloths for shower curtains and stuff like that. She opened a whole new world for me. Incidentally, once you are addicted to this method, another great place to get beautiful table linens on sale is here. Now, on to the particulars, if you'd like to make some pillows like these. front of the napkin pillow back of the napkin pillow Step one: Along ONE long side of both pieces of backing fabric, sew a narrow hem.

Needle Crafts Savannah from Oh So Pretty: The Diaries is here to share her Sew a Bird on it! Let's give her a round of applause for such detail. Plus a free printable bird template. Thanks, Savannah! We had this awesome tray in our living room that had these pretty little stitched designs but, they were old and they didn't match our new color schemes so we decided to update it! All you will need is: - A piece of scrapbook paper - Bird Stencil - Regular Thread - Sewing Needle - Scissors - Pencil - Scotch Tape Draw out your bird. Cut out your stencil. This is the front of the scrapbook paper we used. Place the bird on the back of the paper in the opposite direction of where you want it to face. Trace the bird with a pencil. Double thread your needle with the thread color of your choice. You can start anywhere on the bird that you want to but we are going to start at the bottom. Pull the thread back through on the other side of the foot. Push the needle through the base of the bird's leg.

Rust-Oleum Chalkboard Paint painted over pic, white spray paint on frame, then distressed. Ugly brown metal wall decor spray painted with (Lowe’s) Valspar Tropical Oasis, then hand painted acrylic, then spray painted matte white and distressed with sandpaper. This was a really cute bathroom sign I bought when I was junkin , but when I looked at it, all I envisioned was a chalkboard menu, or something chalkboard. So see ….HA….I have been busy…..

Thrive If you’re like me, your January is about resolutions and getting organized. Our house is getting some much needed get-rid-of-the-crap-you-don’t-need lovin’, room by room. First stop, the kids’ closets. Everything but jeans and jammies gets hung up. And with two kids per room, that means all the shirts, church clothes, dresses, coats, etc. for both of them have to play nice in a single, cramped closet. To help the kids keep their spaces tidy and organized, I’ve used dividers like this in the past. The only problem (other than the fact that I didn’t have nearly enough to go around) was that it looked like a giant, yellow uterus. So, I figured I could make some more using items from the recycling bin AND change up the shape a bit to make cringe-less dividers that were personalized to match the kids’ rooms. These were so easy to make: Grab any left-over containers/bins/jugs with areas of thin, flat plastic … here’s what I had on hand. I cut away the curved edges and drew an arched shape … 1. Yup.

diddle dumpling: crafts After nearly 13 years using the same trusty black leather Fossil wallet, I recently decided I was ready for a change. I snagged an adorable fabric wallet made by a friend of mine, but it didn't have a zippered compartment for my coins. This, of course, necessitated the creation of a coin purse. I started with the darkest yellow and created a cluster of french knots on my linen. I picked up a coin purse frame at Joann, and after checking out a few online tutorials for making these little bags, I cut out my pieces and sewed them together. The holes along the edge of the frame are so you can sew your purse in, but I chose not to and just used glue instead. My coins now have a safe, cute home, and that makes me happy.

HandymanWire - Building a Sandbox The sandbox is 6 ft. by 6 ft. Two 12 ft long 2x12's can be purchased and each cut in half to provide the boards for the sides. Or buy four 8-ft boards and cut them to 6 ft long. The sides are joined at the corners with a corner post. Which is bolted to each of the boards at the corner. For the corner post use a 2x4 cut 1 ft long and attach the sides to the corner post with 1/4 inch carriage bolts. Plywood: Cut a 1-ft wide strip off the plywood on the 4-ft length of the plywood.

Toy Rotation Bins A few months ago I read the book Simplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne and quickly became convinced that my kids had too many toys. Not only that, but they had the wrong types of toys, and too many options at any given time. Instead of playing with the toys, my kids were dumping them out on the floor, fighting over them, or hiding them in unusual places. Too many options were causing my children to become frustrated and overwhelmed. Toys that required many pieces weren't getting used at all. So I instituted a rotation system. Toys I Kept: wooden toys toys that are pleasant to touch and look attoys that encourage creativity and imaginationtoys that build motor skillsfavorite toysToys I Tossed:toys that were broken or missing partstoys that do the playing for the child. Each morning we pull a bin of toys out of the cabinet. The kids fight less too. Do you use a toy rotation system? This post contains an affiliate link. Click here to find out what that means.
