Plateau Problems “I’ve been running for three years. At first, it seemed like I got stronger and faster with every race, but my progress has hit a stumbling block. I do a lot of local 5ks, but still haven’t broken 30 minutes. Help!” Congratulations on three years of running strong! That said, you can break through this plateau—and with a strategy shift you will smash that 30-minute mark. RACE LESS. MIX IT UP. ACCESSORIZE. BRING IT DOWN. FINE-TUNE YOUR RACE-DAY STRATEGY. Jenny Hadfield is the co-author of Running for Mortals and Marathoning for Mortals.

Holy Fukushima – Radiation From Japan Is Already Killing North Americans Jeromie Williams You’re going to want to use every share button at the bottom of this article once you’re done reading, so get ready, it’s time to freak out: Maybe. If you live on the west coast of Canada or the United States, you’re pretty much already screwed at this point thanks to the Japanese earthquake and tsunami of 2011. This isn’t a conspiracy theory, this is happening and it’s happening right now. The fancy little picture at the top of the article isn’t showing you the flow of happy fun time thoughts from Japan back in March of 2012, it’s showing you the flow of radiation from the Fukushima nuclear plant after the devastating earthquake and tsunami of 2011. Do the math – If that radiation screamed across the Pacific Ocean that far in one year, just how far do you think it has gotten since then? Samples of milk taken across the United States have shown radiation at levels 2000 percent higher than EPA maximums. How can we protect ourselves? Incoming search terms:

FISA Court Rubber Stamps Continued Collection Of All Phone Records, While DOJ Insists No One Can Challenge This As of this morning, the Feds didn't want to say if they'd asked the FISA court to renew the order allowing it to collect the data on every single phone call from Verizon (and likely every other major phone carrier, though it's unclear if the orders for those others also expired today). However, as more and more people raised the question, the office of the Director of National Intelligence apparently recognized that they couldn't avoid answering the question forever, and admitted what everyone already knew: yes, it had asked for a renewal of the order and yes (of course) the rubber stamp FISA court had rubber stamped its approval: It may be undertaking that internal review, but one thing that it does not want is to have to defend the whole shebang in court. In other words, because the feds only look at a few records, they can collect them all. Next, the DOJ argues that since this data is collected under &sec;215 it's clearly legal, end of story.

There Are Shocking Differences Between Raw Honey And The Processed Golden Honey Found In Grocery Retailers by Karen Foster There are well over 30 commercial producers of honey that have no traces of pollen and lack beneficial vitamins and enzymes among a host of other natural constituents which are removed due to pasteurization and processing. Most golden honey you see at your local grocery is dead and far from the health promoting powerhouse of its raw unpasteurized counterpart. In the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration says that any product that’s been ultra-filtered and no longer contains pollen isn’t honey. Ultra filtering is a high-tech procedure where honey is heated, sometimes watered down and then forced at high pressure through extremely small filters to remove pollen, which is the only foolproof sign identifying the source of the honey. They purchased more than 60 jars, jugs and plastic bears of honey in 10 states and the District of Columbia. Why Remove the Pollen? “I don’t know of any U.S. producer that would want to do that. What’s Wrong With Chinese Honey? 1. 2. 3. 4.

Student science experiment finds plants won't grow near Wi-Fi router Five ninth-grade young women from Denmark recently created a science experiment that is causing a stir in the scientific community. It started with an observation and a question. The girls noticed that if they slept with their mobile phones near their heads at night, they often had difficulty concentrating at school the next day. They wanted to test the effect of a cellphone's radiation on humans, but their school, Hjallerup School in Denmark, did not have the equipment to handle such an experiment. The students placed six trays filled with Lepidium sativum, a type of garden cress, into a room without radiation, and six trays of the seeds into another room next to two routers that according to the girls' calculations, emitted about the same type of radiation as an ordinary cellphone. Over the next 12 days, the girls observed, measured, weighed and photographed their results. Related on MNN:

There is No Mistaking The Evidence, Cannabis Cures Cancer Cannabis is one of the most powerful healing plants in the world and it makes cancer essentially disappear. Cannabis compounds are responsible for halting the growth factors that are responsible for metastatic growth. Although there has been scientific evidence that marijuana can shrink and even kill tumors since the 1970s, much of the recent public interest in this research has been inspired by Run From The Cure, a documentary about a Canadian man who claims that the concentrated oil from the cannabis plant has cured his skin cancer. He then tries the cure on a number of other cancer victims in his community with similar results. Researchers have now found that the compound, called cannabidiol, has the ability to ‘switch off’ the gene responsible for metastasis in an aggressive form of breast cancer. A team from the California Pacific Medical Center, in San Francisco, first spotted its potential five years ago, after it stopped the proliferation of human breast cancer cells in the lab.
