The 74 is getting into Spanish-language education reporting, starting in Los Angeles The small Los Angeles-based education site LA School Report is relaunching today under the auspices of The 74, alongside a mirror site in Spanish which will attempt to dive further into original Spanish-language education reporting. The 74, an education news site cofounded by former CNN anchor Campbell Brown, had absorbed the four-and-a-half year old LA School Report — which had previously been a tiny but consistent presence in coverage of the Los Angeles Unified School District — in February. “It was a natural fit to have them merge into The 74, as we were looking to ramp up our presence in terms of our West Coast reporting, and we’re already big admirers of the work that LA School Report was doing, really owning that Los Angeles education beat,” Romy Drucker, cofounder and CEO, told me. “This is at a time that Los Angeles was emerging as a leading reform story — a new superintendent, Michelle King, had just taken over.

Reserva Ecológica The Reserva Ecológica is a strange but wonderful place, a fragment of wild and watery grassland stretching for 2km alongside the Costanera. Having self-seeded with grassland after the landfill project was abandoned in 1984, the reserve offers a juxtaposition of urban and natural scenes, whether factory chimneys glimpsed through fronds of pampas or the city skyline over a lake populated by ducks and herons.Read morechevron_right Inside the reserve, near the entrance, the visitors’ centre displays panels explaining the park’s development and serves as the starting point for ranger-guided walks along the park’s many trails (Sat & Sun 10.30am & 3.30pm). There is a surprising diversity of flora and fauna in the park, with over two hundred species of bird visiting during the year.
Spanish Language Exercises Welcome to the Spanish Language Exercises web page, hosted by Ursinus College. This site presents a series of language exercises for the purpose of facilitating the learning and teaching of Spanish in the Internet environment. These exercises were born out of the need to incorporate new materials into my teaching practices and because of my curiosity about the emergence and popularity of new technologies. Rather than presenting here a comprehensive display of grammar exercises, I offer examples of different approaches to common language challenges for the foreign student of Spanish. My intention is, thus, to share ideas with instructors and students alike, leaving to the former the pedagogical decisions of how to better utilize these exercises, and hoping that the latter will really benefit from this hypertextual experience.
