Recycle your old t-shirts into yarn Are your hands itching to starting crocheting or knitting but you have no yarn at home? Do you have some old t-shirts laying around at home? If your answer is twice yes, than your problem is solved and you can start in no time ;-). Of course you can buy recycled T-shirt yarn in the shop, it has the same thickness as the one you will cut but it will have a different sentimental value. Nowadays we do think more in terms of recycling, well this is an excellent way to start. When searching on the net you will find more ways of 'how to cut your T-shirt into yarn', but for me this video explains it very well. The only part of the t-shirt used is the part just underneath the arms till just above the bottom seem of your t-shirt. This yarn is excellent for potholders or for home made carpets.
DIY Chanel Pearl Hairpins This week’s DIY, requested by a reader, was inspired by the abundant and delightful use of pearls in Chanel‘s Spring 2012 Collection. Though I’m usually not the biggest fan of pearls, I actually fell in love with the way Karl affixed them along the back of necks and pushed oversized ones into loose updos. His modern interpretation of the underwater gem just goes to show that pearls can be worn any day, at any age! With a few easy steps, you’ll be able to whip up a handful of pearl hairpins as fast as you can say “Sally sold seashells by the seashore” 10 times. Backwards. You’ll need:8mm – 12mm half drilled crystal ‘faux’ pearls20 – 22 gauge wirebobby pinswire cutterflat nose plierssuper glue Start by cutting off a 5 inch piece of wire. Put a few drops of super glue onto the tip of the folded part and insert it into the pearl. Allow it to dry completely. Continue to wrap tightly 5-6 times. Now, secure the pearl by wrapping the other side around the bottom half of the pin.

La recette artisanale de la popote des antiquaires pour décaper ? Bonjour, La popote des antiquaires ne retire pas le vernis, elle le nettoie et lui redonne un coup de jeunesse. J'ai eu à décaper (entre autre) une table peinte de plusieurs couches, j'ai fait une pâte à base de colle à papier peint bon marché et 1/2 litre d'ammoniac. Je me suis mise dehors pour plus de sécurité car ça fouette le museau... gants de protection. Pas d'enfant, de chien ou autre dans les pattes, ce serait dangereux. Mais comme c'est une pâte, ça n'éclabousse pas, il faut y aller soigneusement, en prenant soin de bien couvrir toute la peinture. J'ai laissé agir pendant 20 mn environ et j'ai commencé à racler avec une spatule les endroits qui commençaient à cloquer.
