Mary Jane Slippers « ohmygoodknits! // a knitting & crochet blog By Lisa Gutierrez on 04/01/2008 **I thought this was obvious, but apparently not: PLEASE OH PLEEASE do not use any of my photos without my permission! I’m a nice person, so if YOU ask nicely, I’d make a consideration. Also, don’t post this pattern anywhere else. A simple link to this page would be a great way to share it. You CAN sell slippers you make, of course, but for pete’s sake, take photos of what you made to show your customer/s! PRINTER-FRIENDLY version link at bottom! I’ve received many messages via Ravelry about these slippers. ... On passe à l'assemblage : A bientôt

Sling Bag Tutorial - Part 1 I tend to have a short attention span when it comes to projects, that's why I like making a variety of things. My Etsy shop has an assortment of stuff in it for that very reason...I don't want to make the same style of the same product over and over! Bags are one of my favorite things to make when I feel like changing up the pace a little. I whipped up a few of these hobo/sling bags to put in the shop. The fun thing about these totes are they are reversible! Fun! It will look like this when you open it up. We are going to be very thrifty with our use of fabric, and use the cut out pieces from the straps as the pockets. Measure down from the top straight edge, nine inches. Trim off the rounded bottom. Cut a strip of narrow elastic, 8 inches long. Your pocket should now look like this. Do that to all four pockets. Now sew just the outer edges of the bags together. With RIGHT sides together, stuff one bag into the other. Sew the two bags together. Stuff one of the bags into the other.
Pretty Little Petals [Free Pattern] Strictly speaking, this post was intended to be the "Part Two" section of the Granny Oblong saga. Except that I went on a frogging spree, and now the whole thing is sitting in the "in progress" box (which has a lid, so I don't have to look at them for a while! :P) But since you were promised a pattern, and since this is called "eggbirddesigns" not "eggbirdthefrog", a pattern ye shall receive!! I hope you like it :) Pretty Little Petals ETA: You can now link to this pattern on ravelry here Notes sp - space sl st - slip stitch sc - single crochet dc - double crochet ch - chain The pattern is written in American terms, however if you prefer UK terms there is a fab 'translator' here. Recycle your old t-shirts into yarn Are your hands itching to starting crocheting or knitting but you have no yarn at home? Do you have some old t-shirts laying around at home? If your answer is twice yes, than your problem is solved and you can start in no time ;-). Of course you can buy recycled T-shirt yarn in the shop, it has the same thickness as the one you will cut but it will have a different sentimental value. Nowadays we do think more in terms of recycling, well this is an excellent way to start. When searching on the net you will find more ways of 'how to cut your T-shirt into yarn', but for me this video explains it very well. The only part of the t-shirt used is the part just underneath the arms till just above the bottom seem of your t-shirt. This yarn is excellent for potholders or for home made carpets.
little woollie Hello. I have been making crochet stars this week. For no good reason really, just because they're fun to make. So I thought some of you might like to have a bit of crafty fun too. These stars use up tiny amounts of wool, so get your scraps box out! I used a mixture of hot colours.... .....and a nice mix of cool colours. You need to make 10 star 'points' or diamonds ( 5for the front and 5 for the back). You can make your stars bigger or smaller by varying the number of rows or by changing the yarn weight and hook size you use. (leave a long tail at the beginning so you can use it to sew up later) Ch 2 row 1: 2sc into 2nd ch from hook, turn. row 2: Ch1(turning chain) 1sc into first st, 2sc into 2nd st, turn. row 3: Ch1, 1sc into 1st st, 1sc into 2nd st, 2sc into last st, turn. row 4: Ch1, 1sc into 1st st, 1sc into each st across until last st, 2sc into last st, turn. Start decreasing. The decrease pattern is as follows: Ch1, sk1st st, sc into next st and each st across, turn. (see photo above).

Crochet patchwork tutorial - Paper & needle crafts among other handmade things First I'd like to say a big Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit my blog and to leave a comment on my crochet patchwork cushion cover, I also received a few questions so I hope the photos and the instructions below will help. Initially I thought I'd make lots of little squares but then I wasn't too keen on having to join them all up somehow so I came up with this instead. Chain 9 and skip the 1st chain, work in rows of dc to form a square. Change colour as shown below and turn. When working your 1st row in a different colour make sure you crochet over the ends of your yarn, this way you won't have to worry about weaving in all those ends at the end. When you reach the end of your 1st row cut the ends and carry on changing colours at regular intervals until you have your strip as long as you want it. Join the strips together by sewing or slip stitching and make sure you align the squares correctly.
