We don't want to give up our food freedom to corporations such as Monsanto that will help us die quicker with untested GMOs. What are GMOs? Genetically Modified Organisms are living organisms that are genetically engineered to resist disease, pesticides, or insects. This is done using recombinant DNA technology in which desirable traits are hand picked and restructured into DNA. Who is Monsanto? Monsanto is a company based out of Missouri that is the major culprit of developing the GMO technology and producing GMO seeds for the Genetically modified crops. What does all of this mean and why should I care? The GMOs that have been passed by the FDA were only studied for a short period, and they were only tested on animals. The word is slowly being passed around, as more studies are done, showing that GMOs are poisonous to our bodies and environment. Help me get the word out and sign this campaign!

Elle a fait le choix de défendre les profits des entreprises polluantes contre l’avis des citoyens de l’Union européenne. En dépit des dangers que font peser les OGM, la nouvelle commission a décidé d’engager son mandat sous le signe de l’autisme démocratique et de la soumission aux lobbies, notamment les multinationales de l’agroalimentaire. En autorisant cette culture, la commission bafoue la directive européenne sur les OGM 2001-18 qui demande que de tels marqueurs soient interdits. Cet OGM dispose d’une autorisation de l’Agence européenne de sécurité des aliments... dont l’ancienne coordinatrice du groupe d’experts scientifiques est devenue salariée d’une entreprise qui produit des OGM. La pomme de terre OGM Amflora possède des gènes résistants à certains antibiotiques, risquant d’engendrer des bactéries insensibles à ceux-ci.

Don't allow the use of terminator seeds. Under pressure from big commercial farms, the Brazilian parliament is about to hold a vote that will allow companies like Monsanto, Bayer, and others to start selling so-called ‘suicide seeds’ to farmers. The genetically modified seeds can only be used once, forcing small farmers into buying seeds from Monsanto or others over and over again -- literally forever. The use of these seeds is essentially prohibited under a UN treaty on biodiversity which over 193 countries, including Brazil, have signed. But if Brazil overturns its own ban then this will have huge consequences. Poor, small farmers could be locked into a cycle of endless debt and dependency -- and the rest of the world could be handing control of the global food supply to a handful of companies. The parliamentary proposal has already been approved by some key committees and is now hurtling its way to a full parliament vote, which could happen in just a few weeks time -- meaning we don’t have long to stop this proposal.

The 2,4-D chemical concoction commissioned by the U.S. Army to defoliate jungles and destroy food crops during the Vietnam War? U.S. corn and soybean farmers could soon be using more of this toxic herbicide than ever before. Unless we convince the U.S. Please sign our petition (below) to the USDA asking them to reject “Agent Orange” crops! A large body of evidence indicates major health problems result from exposure to 2,4-D, including cancer, reproductive problems, neurotoxicity and auto-immune disorders. The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) concedes that Dow’s new 2,4-D-resistant crops could speed up the evolution of new “superweeds” which would ultimately require even heavier applications of ever-more toxic herbicides, and could also have “off-target” effects. Still, the agency signaled (on January 3, 2014), in the release of its Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), that it favors approving the new GMO crops.
