Aztec Civilization The Aztec Empire flourished between c. 1345 and 1521 CE and, at its greatest extent, covered most of northern Mesoamerica. Aztec warriors were able to dominate their neighbouring states and permit rulers such as Motecuhzoma II to impose Aztec ideals and religion across Mexico. Highly accomplished in agriculture and trade, the last of the great Mesoamerican civilizations was also noted for its art and architecture which ranks amongst the finest ever produced on the continent. The Aztec state is actually the most well documented Mesoamerican civilization with sources including archaeology, native books (codices) and lengthy and detailed accounts from their Spanish conquerors - both by military men and Christian clergy.

How pigs can compost manure on a farm scale, saving you fuel and money I'm sure many are familiar with this scenario: you're driving along in the countryside and you're suddenly hit with the overwhelming stench of manure from a farm. A dilemma ensues do you A) wind up your window to stop any more of the smell entering the car thus trapping the low level smell that's already made it in; or do you B) keep the window down, taking on the full brunt in the hope the smell will quickly pass and fresh air will blow the rest of it away. Can you smell it from here? When this happens to us (we're windows open people) we usually comment – 'That farm is wasting money'. What we're all actually smelling is a combination of Ammonia (NH3), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Nitric oxide (NO) and numerous volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Mixed in with those pungent gases are their odorless greenhouse bedfellows, nitrogen dioxide (NO2), Carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4).
Make Your Own Pop Bottle Drip Irrigation System The last time I forgot to water my outdoor potted plants and discovered them completely wilted and hanging on the cusp of near death, I decided it was time to take action. Some of the plants on my deck receive a full, searing sun all day long during the hottest mid summer days. While these plants thrive under such conditions if properly taken care of, they will die quickly if they don’t receive enough water.

Watch these Cows literally Jump for Joy when Saved and Released from a Dairy Here's a cool story I found that you might like about some dairy cows that were saved from the slaughterhouse... There's group of people from Bergisches Land (near Cologne), who founded the association “Kuhrettung Rhein-Berg – Lebenshof für Tiere” (Cow Rescue Rhein-Berg – Sanctuary for Animals) in July 2012. The background: A family dairy farm had to give up business for economic reasons. The last ones of the herd, consisting of eleven dairy cows and 14 heifers, were facing slaughter. Only a young ox could be rescued early in time and would have had stayed there, all on his own. To prevent this, we founded an association together with the farmer, whom we won over with the idea for our project.
