Imagicon Review & Download Link « freewaregenius.com Imagicon is a small program that performs image to icon conversions as well as image conversions across all the supported formats (BMP, PNG, JPG and ICO). It features a simple drag and drop interface. I was looking for a simple program to convert PNG’s and JPG’s into Icon (ICO) files and found this one. I chose to post this program over a number of others primarily because it supported converting a a number of popular image formats (BMP, PNG, and JPG), whereas most of the others I looked at typically converted a single format only (usually PNG). Here are some notes on this program: Simple interface: first define the output image settings you want (convert to icons by default), then simply drag and drop an image or multiple images onto the program dialog for the conversion to take place.Fast: very efficient conversions compared to other image-to-icon programs that I have tested.Icon settings: 32×32 by default, but can be set to any icon size setting (16×16, 48×48, 128×128, 64×64).

10 Ways to Maximize Your Google Reader Link Blog I've been sharing articles I've read in Google Reader for the better part of two years. I don't know exactly when I started, but I'm fairly sure I'm nowhere near finished. And while I admittedly started sharing to a link blog without having a clear goal in mind, I'm finding that this massive shared items repository is becoming an incredibly versatile information hub that benefits me, the authors of articles I've shared, and the consumers, be they friends in Google Reader, or in many other locations. I believe that while Google Reader has grown in visibility, arguably becoming the most popular RSS reader on the Web, the utility of shared link blogs is less known. Here are ten ways you can maximize your Google Reader link blog - most of which I'm doing, and probably didn't anticipate when I first started sharing items into the ether. 1. Do so with some regularity, and you might be surprised as to how people come to rely on your manual intervention and news discovery. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.

Blog: Simple Update Protocol: Fetch updates from feeds faster When you add a web site like Flickr or Google Reader to FriendFeed, FriendFeed's servers constantly download your feed from the service to get your updates as quickly as possible. FriendFeed's user base has grown quite a bit since launch, and our servers now download millions of feeds from over 43 services every hour. One of the limitations of this approach is that it is difficult to get updates from services quickly without FriendFeed's crawler overloading other sites' servers with update checks. SUP is just a proposal at this stage. SUP (Simple Update Protocol) is a simple and compact "ping feed" that web services can produce in order to alert the consumers of their feeds when a feed has been updated. Benefits include: Simple to implement. SUP is designed to be especially easy for feed publishers to create. Sites wishing to produce a SUP feed must do two things: Add a special <link> tag to their SUP enabled Atom or RSS feeds. Feed consumers can add SUP support by:

February 2008 I have been working on some courseware for Microsoft, and in the process have come across something interesting. Search queries the content database of a web application for data, right? And search is supposed to confine it's search to the site collection the user typed the query into, right? But search does search the site collection path from the point where the query was made (be it at the top-level site, or at a subsite) downwards through the path. So what if you were searching from the top-level site of the root site collection in a web application? So, theoretically, searching from the top-level site of you could search etc.. What makes that possible (or generally impossible- garnering the standard that searches are site collection-centric)? Search is generally limited by site collection due to security filtering. Try it.
