iLoveToCreate: Burnt Offerings Decoupage Necklace
iLoveToCreate Retrofabulous CraftsBurnt Offerings Decoupage NecklaceMargot Potter In 2009 I published a book called Beyond the Bead. It is by far my favorite book. I had a blast making beads and components out of all sorts of wonderful things I found in the aisles at the craft and hardware stores. One of the projects in the book used old book pages, wooden craft stars and a wood burning tool to create the look of aged and burned charms. MaterialsOld book pages Wooden craft stars Traci Bautista Aleene's Collage Pauge Matte Aleene's Spray Acrylic Sealer Matte Tiny key charms Crystal beads Aged brass chain Clasp 10mm gold tone or aged brass jump rings Tools Chain nose pliers Bent nose pliers Wood burning tool Attach paper to star using Collage Pauge. Seal the top of the star with decoupage medium, after it dries repeat. for the opposite side. Use a wood burning tool to CAREFULLY burn the edges of the stars and add some burned areas in the centers.
Beaded Flowers
I like these because they have a vintage look, and can be made into a necklace, hair accessory, pin, or even a magnet for your refrigerator. Supplies: Beading wire, I used 24 gauge a package dark color rocaille beads a package of light color rocaille beads a package of assorted rocaille beads a small piece of felt glue gun pliers/wire cutters 1. Forming a petal. Form a loop with the beaded portion and twist once to hold the beads in place. Working with the long end of the wire string on two assorted color beads, 20 dark color beads, and two more assorted color beads. Form the beaded section into a loop going around your first loop, and twist to hold. Working with the long section of wire, add 4 of the assorted color beads, 25 dark beads and 4 more assorted color beads. You have now completed one petal. 2. Put on stack on top of the other and twist the stems together. Spread the petals out, overlapping them. On the back of the flower, curl the wire around, flat to the flower and trim.

Swiss Candy Jewelry
I call it Swiss Candy Jewelry because it loosely resembles Swiss cheese and the Haribo Gummi candies they sell all over central Europe. Similar to the process used in the Sparkling and Melting Flowers, this tutorial uses the magical properties of #6 recyclable plastic. Materials: * Five #6 recyclable plastic cups * Heat source (like a well ventilated oven) * Chain or wire to use as necklace base and links * Pliers Cost: Free for me (I already had cups leftover from a party and an old junk necklace, but I imagine this could be assembled for less than $10) Time: 60 minutes for the blue statement necklace, 20 minutes for the pink pendant 1. 4. Variation in pink.
Serious Moonlight
Oh, did you see that moon last night? As it slipped out from behind the Sangre de Cristo Mountains here in Taos, it took my breath away, and then, of course, inspired some killer earrings. Rummaging through my stash, I found a strand of dear little moonstones that just begged to be turned into some serious moonlight. If I don't sell these, I will be very happy to keep them... Life is a trail, not a camp... Catch up with the story at TakingTheLongWayHome.
Dolman Tee
My husband and I are runners so we have a million t-shirts. I love transforming these boxy, oversized tees into something I will actually want to wear other then for a nightgown. I love this heather grey and wanted to make it into my favorite style tee. I love the comfortable, effortless style of the dolman tee... It took me about 15 minutes or so. I played around with seams to get the fit right. Supplies: DIY intructions: Full Video go here (it's old though). Begin by removing the collar of the shirt, pull to create an off the shoulder look. Mark your 1/2 your hip measurement inside the t-shirt so it's even. Pleat about 4 inches up by folding accordion folds and pinning through front and back. Mark your arm hole measurement and pin from the under arm seam to that measurement. When you sew, start at the bottom hem and sew up to the under arm seam in a gradual line. Cut all the excess interior fabric away or serge the interior.
