Celebrities' Twitter Followers Have Zero Influence [STUDY] Social media analytics company Sysomos used its platform to analyze the Twitter followers of celebrities, social media heavyweights and news sources. Sysmos found that the Twitter followers of social media heavyweights were the most influential of the bunch and followers of celebrities by contrast, have little to no authority. Sysomos assigned authority rankings from zero to ten for followers based on the number of their followers, following, updates, retweets and other undisclosed factors. On average, the most-followed celebrities like Ashton Kutcher and Britney Spears have followers with zero influence. The followers of social media heavyweights like Chris Brogan and Jeremiah Owyang averaged much higher scores — between four and five points for authority, on average. The followers of news and media Twitter accounts like our own landed in the middle of the pack, scoring between two and three on the authority and influence scale.

How Twitter Use Has Changed, From 2009 to 2010 It's been a good year for Twitter, and not merely because the company announced yesterday it has secured another huge round of funding. The microblogging platform has grown by over 100 million users this year and expanded its staff from 130 to 350 people. And it's rolled out major redesigns and improvements to its site, mobile apps and APIs. People who created a Twitter profile before January 2009 now account for just 4.7% of the total Twitter population. The results of the study suggest we may be disclosing more personal information in our profiles and following more people, but even as more people have joined, most Twitter activity still comes from a very small number of users. Twitter Users Disclose More Information in Their Profiles The number of Twitter users who provide personal information in their bios has more than doubled since last year; 82% of Twitter users now provide a name, compared with only 33% in 2009. More Followers and Following Who's Doing All the Tweeting?

credomarketing: #Twitter, sixième application... 5 Free Services for Pre-Scheduling Your Twitter Updates Twitter's very real-time functionality is obviously the main attraction of the service. But it can also be a downside — if you want to send a tweet at a specific time, you usually have to be poised over a keyboard or phone. But there are some great solutions. The ability to post-date a tweet is useful for event promotion (where you may be busy at said event), to reach an audience in a different time zone, to space out your messages, or to keep your account nice and lively while you are away. While some popular Twitter clients offer scheduling options built-in, others don't. To narrow down the vast number of services out there, criteria for this list includes: 1) That it's free; 2) That it offers OAuth "sign in with Twitter" access, or OpenID sign-in; and 3) That it does what it says on the proverbial packaging. These five hand-picked options are our favorites, but as always, please do let us know your top choices in the comments below. 1. Twuffer (Twitter buffer, get it?) 2. 3. 4.
