ONE profile Fantastic Easy Hairstyle for the DIY Bride/Bridesmaid {Sunday Beauty School} I know I talked hair last week BUT I just have to share this with you! Being a straight and rather flat haired girl myself, I have tried every which way to bring a little bit of curl into my life with limited success. I’ve bought heated round brushes, velcro rollers, curling tongs in various shapes and sizes, those foam bendy things, rags (Victorian chic don’t you know) and heated rollers. But none have given me the curls I crave and most of them have damaged my hair. But, the other day, I was indulging in a little pinning on Pinterest. Here is a before and after shot of a girl who tried it out and was so pleased with the results she blogged about it. And click here for the original YouTube Tutorial by Maria from ‘The Lipstick Diaries’. I’m not sure I’d describe these curls as Vintage, they seem more boho to me but nevertheless I just love them & will no doubt be sporting them in the very near future! Marbling with Nail Polish Images and text by Amy Christie for Design Mom Upon reading my DIY magazine last month, I was really excited at the tutorial for using nail polish to marble slick-surface furniture. The polish really sticks! Well, I don’t have any furniture pieces needing a new look but I wondered if the same materials could be used on non-furniture, non-slick surfaced items. My findings? They can! I did a bunch of experimenting and found that nail polish and water offer up an extremely easy way to marble just about anything you desire — from glass to wood to metal to cardboard. It would be a fun technique for bridal shower favors, or making simple jewelry boxes at a birthday party for your daughter. And with the seemingly limitless color selection in polish now a days, there is sure to be a color scheme to your liking. Supplies: -fingernail polish - new is best for freshness and liquidity but price point is your choice! Also important, make sure the work area is well-ventilated. What about you?

DIY Honey Shampoo Method If you had told me last year that my shelf of hair care products would be reduced to a homemade honey shampoo, I would not have believed you. Shampoo, conditioner, conditioning mask and painfully pricey anti-frizz serum… how could humble honey replace all of that? Let me start at the beginning. This past year, I’ve been on a crazy hippie journey to eliminate toxic products from my life. I’ve been washing my hair with this DIY honey shampoo for the past month and I LOVE the results! The pH of the scalp is between 4 and 7, and the pH of honey is about 4. Want to ditch the chemicals in regular shampoo and renew your scalp? Ingredients Raw honey (also called "unpasteurized" honey), I recommend this oneFiltered water (see Instructions for measurements), I use and recommend this filterA few drops of essential oils, such as carrot seed oil, optional Instructions Make the shampoo "single serving" basis to prevent spoilage.

Homemade mascara: All natural and eye friendly Why homemade mascara? For some time now my entire makeup routine has been a dab of lip balm and a quick brush of mascara. But I still wondered if these two little “makeup essentials” were really good for me. Being the hippie-lovin’-green-livin’ type gal that I am, I was pretty sure the answer was “no.” What is in mascara anyway? Mascara dates back to ancient Eygpt. Cosmetics are very loosely regulated by the FDA. I’ve been using an organic “all natural” mascara for the past couple of years. But even this (more expensive) organic brand was full of ingredients that I didn’t quite feel safe about. Why I love my homemade mascara My first attempt at homemade mascara wasn’t very impressive. This homemade mascara does a great job darkening, separating, and conditioning the lashes. The recipe is really easy.
