Calligraphy Alphabets

Calligraphy Alphabets
Samples of various calligraphy alphabets are shown below to help your calligraphy. These are all written by me as an interested amateur. Note other pages on the site have much more on gothic, italic, and rustic capitals. You'll also find links below to my free tutorial pages and useful books. (Note: many more calligraphic and historical alphabets exist than just the ones listed below. But these will give you an idea of the major families of calligraphy alphabets.) Have fun with the Roman rustic capitals Rustic Capitals are a robust, dynamic calligraphy alphabet, good for titles when you want formality and impact without rigidity. Rustic Capitals are the oldest script I include tutorials for on this site. Living in ancient Rome, you would have seen announcements, information or even rude messages written in Rustic Capitals on the walls of the city, in just the same way as advertising posters or graffiti today. Two calligraphy books stand out for this script: Uncial Gothic, textura quadrata

Easy Origami Envelope If you’d like to make these cute little “Flap Lock” Origami Envelopes–all you’ll need is a piece of square paper…any size. I used Christmas scrapbook paper. 1. Fold the paper in half to form a triangle. Make sure your edges are even. 2. Flowering tree from a kid’s hand Outline the kid’s hand onto a brown cardboard. Draw two stripes at the two sides and make two opposite cuts ( A and B). Fold into two small pieces of different colored paper and cut hearts and leaves out of them. Glue onto the cardboard hand. Finally put the two cuts one into the other to make the tree standing straight. see also: ProMarker Singles - Orange Tones from Joanna Sheen Most web sites you visit will use cookies to improve your user experience by enabling that website to 'remember' you, either for the duration of your visit (using a 'session cookie') or for repeat visits (using a 'persistent cookie'). Ladybugs from Egg Cartons Ladybugs! I love ladybug crafts because they are really easy for kids to make, teenagers think they are cute, and you can vary the colors to make just about anyone smile. As you already know, using recycled items in my craft tutorials is a big thing with me, so it should be no surprise that these little sweeties are made from painted recycled egg cartons. I actually made these several years ago for the website I used to own, FamilyCorner.com.

Art Inspired / Discussing Art The Artful Thinking program takes the image of an artist’s palette as its central metaphor. The artful thinking palette is comprised of 6 thinking dispositions – 6 basic colors, or forms, of intellectual behavior – that have dual power: They are powerful ways of exploring works of art, and powerful ways of exploring subjects across the school curriculum. The Artful Thinking palette comes alive through the use of “thinking routines.” Each thinking disposition has several thinking routines connected to it.
