How To Start Using Google Apps In Education

How To Start Using Google Apps In Education
As teachers, our plates are perpetually and impossibly full. The idea of adding one more component – such as incorporating technology into instruction – can seem daunting to say the least. In my own attempts to incorporate technology into my practice, Google has been the most valuable tool I have found thus far. Why use Google Apps? Google provides a multitude of Apps that can be accessed through multiple mediums – computer, smartphone, or tablet. These apps are all free and come with varying levels of privacy ranging from completely public on the web to limited only through sharing with specific contacts. So how can I use Google Apps in my teaching? To showcase the management advantage of Google Apps, I will highlight an example of how I use Google Apps in my own instruction. To do this, I first created a folder in my Google Drive (you can think of this like a storage space on the internet versus on the hard drive of your computer) titled ‘Civics’. Maybe not right now…

More Fun With Google Forms | Assessment There seems to be a lot of talk about the power of Google Forms in #physed these days. For me, this is all very exciting because I can finally (kinda) use Google Drive at work (don't even get me started on that, let's just accept the fact that I can get more done now than before). Adam Howell (who you should follow) has been sharing some pretty awesome ideas on how to use Google Forms in #physed. He did a great screencast showcasing his "Ask Me A Question" idea that he uses in his classes. Basically, he includes a link in his Google Drive-based student documents (e.g. a peer assessment document explaining the day's tasks to the reader) that links to a basic Google Form that looks a little like this: If students have a question, they can click on the link, fill out the form and submit it to the teacher. Pretty smart stuff. Nathan Horne (who you should also follow) has also been sharing some sweet ideas on how to use Google Forms. Again, really smart stuff. 1. 1. 2. 2. 1. 3. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Miten koulu sitten saa Google Docsin käyttöönsä? Eero Nukari

How To Use Google Drive and Evernote To Create Digital Portfolios The following post is written by Greg Kulowiec & Beth Holland from EdTechTeacher. You can hear them both present at the April 10-12 EdTechTeacher iPad Summit in Atlanta! As iPads proliferate in schools around the world, and students as well as teachers create more and more content, questions about what to do with all of those learning objects have arisen. In other words, how can we curate this content into portfolios for assessment as well as reflection. Portfolio Curation with Google Drive Source: The Verge With recent upgrades to the Google Drive app on the iPad, it is now a viable solution for student portfolios that can be created in their entirety on iPad. The Google Drive app now allows for the creation of Documents, Spreadsheets, and Folders. The video tutorial below explains the process of creating, uploading and sharing within the Google Drive app on an iPad. Using Portfolios to Make Connections with Evernote Evernote provides one possible solution to the challenge.

Kunkin dokumentin voi jakaa a) vain tietyille käyttäjille, jolloin vain he pääsevät sitä katsomaan (vaatii Google-tunnuksen), b) vain linkin tietäville käyttäjille (linkki sähköpostitse, ei vaadi kirjautumista) tai c) täysin avoimesti kaikille ihmisille. Google Docs sopii Etherpad-muistion tyyliin useamman henkilön yhteiseen kirjoittamiseen ja erityisesti pidempiaikaiseen, prosessinomaiseen yhteiseen työskentelyyn. Awesome Cheat Sheet on Google Docs Shortcuts I just came across this excellent resource while browsing my Twitter feeds and thought you might also like to have a look. This is the official worksheet Google published in its Google Docs Support page and which features all the keyboard shortcuts that facilitate your work on Google Docs. I have just copied parts of this sheet because the entire sheet is very long and you can access it HERE. Going through these shortcuts, I found that some of them work on any other web tools and not just Google Docs like, for instance, the combinations of keys to copy, paste, select..etc but some of them are limited to only Google Docs. Pleas have a look and share with us what you think of it .

80 Interesting Ways To Use Google Forms In The Classroom 80 Interesting Ways To Use Google Forms In The Classroom by TeachThought Staff When you think of innovative, edgy, compelling uses of technology, Google Forms isn’t exactly the first thing that leaps to mind. While you’d probably prefer a piece of hardware that’s affordable, easy to use, and mobile that allows students to direct their own mastery of content in peer-to-peer and school-to-school learning environments, for now you just might have to settle for a spreadsheet. No, wait. Spreadsheets are simply a kind of framework, yes? And they have built-in formulas to perform calculations, visualize data, and communicate information in ways we–and students–are not used to seeing, right? So maybe a self-grading assessment? Questionnaires? See, I told you it’s not so bad.
