DIY Picture Tiles - You Will Never Buy a Photo Frame Again Lately I’ve been having this huge urge to decorate the house. This is big news. I do not decorate. Arguably, one of the reasons why is because I. absolutely. hate. to. buy. mass. produced. decor. Anyway, this extends to photo frames. Nope. Long story short, I discovered this method of transferring my photos cheaply, quickly, and beautifully to something uncommon and unique. Tiles. The only thing that’s not particularly crunchy about this is that it uses Modge Podge or similar (and I’m not sure what’s in Modge Podge). It’s just grainy and doesn’t dry clearly. Boo. BUT, if you can overlook that one minor issue, I think you’ll love this. And it will be glorious. Here’s how you do it. First, you need to go to Home Depot, Lowes, or something like it. (FYI, I found that Lowes prices on tiles were cheaper than Home Depot. I like the stone tiles, because they have texture. So you pick out your tiles in the sizes you want. And then you get home and gather what you need. Cut them out. Go go go! Love me?

The buttons. single hole, hole punch (like this one here). 2. 3. Okay.. lets get started! Tracing tips: You can use either coloured pencils or permanent pens. Words must be writted backwards in order to be readable. Shrinking the buttons: To shrink the buttons, you can use an oven or a heat gun (the kind used for embellishing). After the buttons have twisted and twirled, and are LYING FLAT, it’s time to take them out. Note: If the skrinking is taking too long, you may need to turn your oven up. Here’s a short little stop-motion to make sure you’ve got the gist of how easy this is! Shrink Paper {here} Circle Punch {here} Hole punch {here} Pens {here} Update: I’ve made a video to show how to shrink the buttons using a craft embellishment heat gun. Kimanh

Master Bedroom Revamp {Part Two} – DreamGreenDIY So, as you saw in our {Part One} post yesterday, we scored a BEAUTIFUL quilt/pillow set from Target – It has already made the room seem brighter, more cheery and a touch more elegant (especially in comparison to the scratchy old black comforter that used to dress the bed). Here’s the bedroom before: And then after the addition of our new bedding: But we weren’t finished there… I mentioned last week that we started working on a certain thrifted side table that used to live in my old apartment (seen pointed to in the photo below). But in the new house, it seemed a little too antique-y…Time for a facelift!! Here are some better pictures of it (sorry, it was a bit in shadow in the photo above): John and I decided to spring for a new tool for this project – A hand sander. I didn’t have much (i.e. anything) to do with the sanding – this was all John – So I can’t tell you much about its performance. Here are some progress shots of the process: Here it is all done! Time for a spray down P.S.

Home Office Organizing Tips and DIY Projects I finally found that part time job I’d been searching for, and this past Friday I started my first day of work as an office assistant. It’s a great job, and while I still have a lot to learn, I’m excited to not only be working for a small family owned company, but to have friendly and awesome co-workers as well. As it turns out, however, I now have two offices. The office at work and my office at home. While there’s not a lot I can do about the office that isn’t mine – at least there are no scary cubicles lurking about – I can find ways to make mine better organized. Desk space is always going to limit you, so the key to finding more space is looking up. Again, if your short on desk space then you don’t want bins stacking up for incoming and outgoing mail. Again, if you’re looking to create more desk space, look up, and organize with a wine rack. I Heart Organizing offers more insight into ways to create more room for more concise organization.
