Online guitar tuner - E A D G B E
Some Guitar Tuning Tips Being wooden, guitars have a bit of 'give' to their structure, and as you tune up and vary the tension on one string, you are at the same time changing the tension on the other strings, changing their tuning. It is therefore a good idea to make several passes through the six strings, tuning each just approximately on the first couple of passes, and then becoming more detailed and exact on later passes.

Guitar tunings The range of a guitar with standard tuning Standard tuning (listen) The phrase "guitar tuning" also refers to the adjusting of the string-pitches to their desired tuning, which is described in how-to manuals for guitarists.[2] Standard tuning defines the string pitches as E, A, D, G, B, and E, from lowest (low E) to highest (high E). "Nonstandard" tunings are also called "alternative" or "alternate". The hundreds of alternative tunings have been classified into a smaller number of categories: "open", both major and minor ("crossnote"), and "modal"; "dropped"; "instrumental" (based on other stringed instruments); and "regular". Standard and alternatives[edit] In standard tuning, the C-major chord has three shapes because of the irregular major-third between the G- and B-strings. Standard[edit] The letter gives the pitch name of each note, and the number indicates in which octave the pitch lies. Alternative[edit] String gauges[edit] Dropped tunings[edit] Open tunings[edit] Major key tunings[edit]
