L'Inquisition pour les nuls: Endormez-vous moins nuls ce soir ! 100-Year-Old Color Photos of Pre-Revolution Russia Have you ever wondered what Russia looked like shortly before the revolution, but aren’t satisfied with black and white photos? Well then, you owe Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii a debt of thanks. While color film was still years away from development, the chemist-turned-photojournalist developed his own solution to capture the vivid colors of his native home. Using color-filtered glass plates, he photographed a scene in red, then blue, then green and then put the images together to reveal a colorized portrait. His amazing photographs, taken from 1909 to 1912 show what Russian life was like for everyone from peasants to noblemen before the country turned to communism. Don’t miss the rest of the great images seen over at Flavorwire .

Dead New World (Last Zombie): Brian Keene, Joseph Wight: 9780984487929: Englische Bücher five_horrifying_serial_killers_youve_probably_never_heard_of Serial killers are the real-life monsters that we disguise as horror movie villains. Bundy, Dahmer, and Manson are names that are as recognizable as Freddy, Jason, and Michael. They are horrifyingly fascinating because, in the movies, motives aren't questioned; it's just a fun, scary time, and the threat ends when the lights come on. But in real life, it is unfathomable that people could be so monstrous. We've gathered five of the sickest, most horrifying serial killers that you should be aware of - but probably aren't. The "Bloody Benders" In the late 1870s in Kansas, a startling number of missing persons were reported to the authorities. Allegedly German immigrants, the Bender family consisted of parents John and Kate, and adult children John Jr. and Kate. H.H. Much like Capone, a simple white-collar crime brought H.H. Holmes's killing spree at the Murder Castle only lasted about a year. Andrei Chikatilo Robert Hansen Fred and Rosemary West

Kleptocracy Kleptocracy, alternatively cleptocracy or kleptarchy, (from Greek: κλέπτης - kleptēs, "thief"[1] and κράτος - kratos, "power, rule",[2] hence "rule by thieves") is a form of political and government corruption where the government exists to increase the personal wealth and political power of its officials and the ruling class at the expense of the wider population, often with pretense of honest service. This type of government corruption is often achieved by the embezzlement of state funds. Characteristics[edit] Kleptocracies are generally associated with corrupt forms of authoritarian governments, particularly dictatorships, oligarchies, military juntas, or some other forms of autocratic and nepotist government in which no outside oversight is possible, due to the ability of the kleptocrat(s) to personally control both the supply of public funds and the means of determining their disbursal. Effects[edit] Examples[edit] Other terms[edit] Narcokleptocracy[edit] Raubwirtschaft[edit]

The Truth About Christmas [NSFCWCC] (Not Safe For Christians Who Celebrate Christmas) | FREEdom Of Speech It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The wonderful holiday season where we all come together and deck the shit out of our halls and jingle all the way. Because if you’re gonna’ jingle why half ass it? You jingle all the way damn it! I don’t know why the truth angers people so much, especially when it comes to religious beliefs and customs but I explained what I am about to explain to you to a few “Christians” last year and it was not well received. Let’s start with the easy stuff. Contrary to what you may think, Christmas wasn’t even a widespread holiday celebrated in colonial America. The truth is, Christmas and all of its glorious paganism date back thousands of years, even predating the birth of JC himself. One of the best examples of this is the Christmas tree. Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. Santa Claus is actually one of the newest parts of the Christmas celebration.

Spanish Civil War. Part I “The Spanish Civil War (The Crusade among Nationalists, Fourth Carlist War among Carlists, The Rebellion or Uprising among Republicans) was a major conflict fought in Spain from 17 July 1936 to 1 April 1939. An estimated total of 500,000 people lost their lives as a consequence of the War. The war began after a pronunciamiento by a group of conservative generals under the leadership of Emilio Mola against the elected Government of the Second Spanish Republic, at the time under the leadership of President Manuel Azaña. The rebel coup was supported by the conservative groups including the Spanish Confederation of the Autonomous Right (Confederación Española de Derechas Autónomas, or CEDA), monarchists known as Carlist groups, and the Fascist Falange (Falange Española de las JONS). Hands-On With Imp, the Wi-Fi Card That Wants to Power Your 'Internet of Things' Imp cards come with a processor and built-in Wi-Fi, letting devices connect to the internet. Photo: Peter McCollough/Wired The Imps get down to business the moment you wake up: Your blinds automatically open, and your coffee maker starts brewing your favorite dark roast. But the mischief doesn’t end there. And when 9 p.m. rolls around, your dishwasher turns on to take advantage of cheaper utility rates. This is the connected world envisioned by the team at Electric Imp, a six-employee startup that’s created the Imp card, a small wafer of plastic that houses a Cortex-M3 processor and Wi-Fi antenna, and taps into an accompanying cloud service. The product’s name is derived from Terry Pratchett’s fantasy novel series Discworld, where imps are small, demonical creatures that power the world’s gadgets. “This is pretty much the same job we do for devices,” Hugo Fiennes, the founder and CEO of Electric Imp, told Wired. No grand plan? And I was more than impressed. Hugo Fiennes using Electric Imp
