Superpower: Invisibility video How our eyes work How does invisibility work? Will invisibility ever be a reality? Here's an article titled: Like Your New Invisibility Cloak? The Chinese Have Already Cracked It Baile Zhang is an electrical engineer at Nanyang Technological University. LEGO invests big to find alternative to plastic DENMARK (MEDIA GENERAL) – LEGO is known for its hard plastic toys that fit together. Now, the company is announcing a goal to move away from its current plastic pieces and try something a little kinder and gentler to the environment. Recently, LEGO announced it will dedicate $149 million ($1 billion DKK, Danish Krone) to research, develop and implement new sustainable, raw materials to make LEGO toys and their packages. “The investment announced is a testament to our continued ambition to leave a positive impact on the planet, which future generations will inherit,” wrote LEGO Group owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen. “It is certainly in line with the mission of the LEGO Group and in line with the motto of my grandfather and founder of the LEGO Group, Ole Kirk Kristiansen: ‘Only the best is good enough.’” LEGO says it has already taken steps to become more environmentally-friendly by reducing packaging sizes and investing in an offshore wind farm. Wave power Wave power is the transport of energy by ocean surface waves, and the capture of that energy to do useful work – for example, electricity generation, water desalination, or the pumping of water (into reservoirs). A machine able to exploit wave power is generally known as a wave energy converter (WEC). Wave power is distinct from the diurnal flux of tidal power and the steady gyre of ocean currents. Physical concepts[edit] When an object bobs up and down on a ripple in a pond, it experiences an elliptical trajectory. Motion of a particle in an ocean wave.A = At deep water. Wave height is determined by wind speed, the duration of time the wind has been blowing, fetch (the distance over which the wind excites the waves) and by the depth and topography of the seafloor (which can focus or disperse the energy of the waves). In general, larger waves are more powerful but wave power is also determined by wave speed, wavelength, and water density. Wave power formula[edit] [b][10] History[edit]

Guppy Experiment Artificial selection in the lab For thousands of years, humans have been influencing evolution, through changes we have caused in the environment — and through artificial selection in the domestication of plants and animals. In many cases, scientists have carefully documented evolution through artificial selection in the lab. John Endler performed experiments in microevolution, allowing artificial selection to manipulate the spots on guppies. After fewer than 15 generations of selection, the markings of guppies in different ponds had substantially diverged as a result of natural selection. Endler then performed another experiment, with the same pond set-ups but without predators. Without predators, there was sexual selection for male guppies that stood out from their background and attracted the attention of the females.

Worksheets for Middle School Students Worksheets for Middle School Teachers. Though most of my teaching experience is at the high school level, I recently spent some time in a middle school classroom teaching a physical science class. Though this is my no means a complete middle school physical science curriculum, maybe this will at least give you middle school teachers an age-appropriate starting point for building a curriculum These worksheets are in Microsoft Word format.
