String Balls
The weeks leading up to the Everee Wednesday photo shoot were full of some pretty significant messes! Nearly every detail of the photo shoot was handmade. So, we wanted to share our absolute favorite DIY project with you, sweet friends! Now you can't say we didn't warn you. The level of messiness involved in this project definitely warrants the great outdoors or a tarp covered floor in your home. However, I think you will find that the fun you had along the way and the final product makes the mess completely worth it! Gather up: Big balloon Sharpie Scissors Cotton yarn 4 oz. Directions 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.

Stamped Spoons I know some of you might not want to think about it just yet… but Valentine’s Day is approaching. I was thinking about DIYs for the holiday and I really like the idea of stamping spoons and pendants as gifts for someone you love. I always think the sweetest Valentines are the handmade ones, or the really subtle and thoughtful ones. I’ve had a metal stamping kit for a while now, and this was the perfect use for it! What you need: a metal stamp set (mine is made by Tekton and I ordered it from Amazon last year), a hammer, spoons, and metal pendants. I got my little pendants at A.C. Make sure you have a hard surface to do this project on. Make one for your loved one with a cute little phrase like “wanna spoon” and give it to them with their coffee in the morning! Stamp the pendants with sweet phrases like “loved” or “to the moon and back,” or the initials of whomever you’re giving it to! My friend stamped hers with the Johnny Cash quote “I keep a close watch on this heart of mine.”

How To Play Ukulele Whether or not you know anything about how to play ukulele, we offer different levels of study that should challenge you only as much as you need. If you do not know how to play the ukulele, you will probably benefit from the beginner's lessons in the primary level. If you already know how to play a stringed intstrument, such as the guitar, you will find the beginner's lessons a great introduction to the unique requirements of a uke, but the lessons in the basic level will probably cover stuff you'll already know if you know how to play the guitar. Basic uke lessons will teach you what you need to know to get by with a uke. If you already know how to play, and find reading out of song books with chord charts simple, you're probably ready for advanced ukulele lessons.

Sun Jar DIY UPDATE: This post originally ran on March 23 2011, but with summer winding down we wanted to bring it back up for some late summer inspiration! a fellow fp girl sent this to me a couple weeks back and i’ve been thinking about it ever since! i can think of a million reasons why these would be awesome… as apartment décor, as outdoor party décor, and – wouldn’t they be the best thing EVER for camping in general or at a festival? just let them sit in the sun all day, and they’ll last all night! i am absolutely going to make some to bring with me to bonnaroo this year. you can buy a sun jar here, but you can make your own for much cheaper! what you need: a mason jar with a clear glass lid like this one from ikea, a solar garden light like the ones pictured above, which i found here, adhesive and glass frosting spray. start by spraying the inside of the jar with the frosting spray – this will help diffuse the light and give it a warm glow. don’t spray the lid though! last image.

Get Yo' Nails Did Okay, so we’re only three weeks in to this whole thing and I’m already showing you a tame look after I totally promised some of you that I’d do a newsprint nail tutorial this week. Newsprint we can do next week, but for right now I wanted/needed a manicure by a professional. As I told you in the first “Get Yo’ Nails Did”, it’s important to include real manicures in your nail routine if you’re not comfortable cutting your cuticles and getting into the real work at home. I am not. I’m willing to shell out $20 bucks to have the dirty work done right, but I’m not going to splurge on nail art at the salon most of the time. As you can see from the photo above, I prefer to do a basic manicure but make it a little different by switching up the colors on my index and middle fingers. That’s another thing: Remember that, while you should always be extremely polite to your manicurist, you shouldn’t be afraid to ask for exactly what you want and to tell him/her if it’s not done correctly.

Pressed Flower DIY Pressed flowers have always had my heart. They’re delicate and beautiful in the quietest way. I had never actually attempted to make some until now, and now I can’t believe I’d gone a whole 25 years without ever doing so. Today I’m going to show you how to press flowers and then how to turn those pretty little pressed flowers into both a jewelry box and a necklace. To press flowers, all you need is a heavy book, some plain paper, and some pretty flowers – the flatter the better. Here’s what I used: I later found out that the white ones, called cinerarias, were not a good choice. Lay the flowers out on a piece of paper with another piece of paper on top, and close them in a book. Place the book somewhere it will remain undisturbed, and keep it there for a week! After a week’s time, open your book and you’ll be delighted to find the most delicate flowers you’ve ever touched. As you can see, the cinerarias didn’t turn out so well. Now on to the crafting! DIY Pebble Bath Mat Just finished this mat to go with my Bathroom Redo. It has a peculiar providence, I was mooching around the CB2 website, doing a little window shopping and I spotted this fellow for $39.95 Me: 'Hey, I had that idea too!' My Sweetie: "So you're saying they stole your idea from inside your head?" Me, kinda indignant: "YEAH" Him: "Would you like me to make you a tinfoil hat?" Crazy aside, here's how I made the mat. I used: 1 rubber Welcome mat4 bags of river rockssome contact adhesive All from the Dollar store. I smooshed down the glue then arranged the rocks. The only difficult part for me was to not try and arrange the rocks too much, I didn't want straight lines or uniform colour, but it's hard to let go of the whole symmetry thing. I haven't had any problems with slipperiness... yet. Tagged : bathmat, diy_version, CB2, bathroom, Cheap-

DIY Succulent Planter Box I have a fun project to share with you today! I’ve been on the hunt for a neat centerpiece (to either DIY or buy) for the big outdoor table that Kevin built on our new deck and am so happy with how this oversized planter’s box project has turned out. My favorite might be the pops of color in the form of five added geometric hexagons. Succulents and I get along really well, and they look so pretty all together in one large container! The hexagon pattern wraps over the top edges of the box and along one corner as well, I love the symmetrical pattern and how the painted shapes work together but provide their own little bursts of bright, unexpected color. I was actually inspired to finally getting around to finishing this project by Katie and Sherry’s Spring Pinterest Challenge: This lovely wooden planter box from The Growing Wall and these neat felt hexagon shapes by Squared Array. Let’s get into the nitty gritty… The process for building my initial planter was pretty simple. Finished!
